TERROR AT 38,000 FEET!!!

Perhaps I should talk to some folks at work about devoting a one-hour Discovery or TLC special to your terrifying incident and miraculous survivor's story. We'll try to turn up the drama as best as possible. Give you even more screen time. Perhaps even spin it off into an entire series all about you? ;)

All this is well and good until we find out that he actually did cause the hole somehow.

Someone should at least email Campell Brown and tell her to remember to call him "Squiggy." The tabloids will have a field-day.

My brother wants to know if parents did actually put on their masks before assisting their children.

However, I can't help but wonder if this is a conspiracy. I wonder where T'Bonz was yesterday? And if she was in Nashville did she have her can-opener with her? :vulcan:

Only a slight connection. Bonz was flying home FROM Baltimore on Sunday. Squiggs was going TO Baltimore on Monday. No co-inky-dince whatsoever!!!! I swear it!

I didn't fly Southwest. It was a choice between them and Air Tran. I chose Air Tran. They don't get holes in the roof of their planes. Theirs just catch on fire and spiral down into the muck of the Everglades. :(

Yeah, everytime they say that I just quietly go "Yeah.. let's just see about that". I would put it on kiddo first. He is much more important than I am.

I should point out that the "Castaway" reference was... Odd. As Castaway doesn't have much like this in the way of loss of cabin pressure.

(Lost, either for that matter.)

Something like "Passenger 57" or "Executive Decision" would've been more suitable -if more esoteric.

It's a logical suggestion---at high altitude, the "effective time" you have prior to unconsciousness without supplemental oxygen can get very small, down to 10 seconds or so.

If the kid passes out because you put your mask on first, he'll wake up fine when you do get his on. If you pass out because you tried to put his on first (and may not have even succeeded), you both could be screwed.

The safest thing for all involved is for someone who understands what needs to be done to remain conscious. If the kid's young enough to require help, they don't qualify for that role.

Ok.. I will try to remember that. It is good information to know, thank you.

This has always been my thought. Thank Christ I haven't had to make that decision yet though.
