Well, that's good news, I guess...

Especially given it's competition (Heroes, Dancing W/the Stars)

Let's just hope that we seem similar results next week.

Those ratings are lower then what Arrested Development got, and the only reason Fox kept Arrested Development around for so long was because of the sheer amount of praise it got from critics and awards it won, something that Terminator isn't getting.

I would imagine that the costs involved with Terminator are far higher then Arrested, (my guess is that the rights to the Terminator brand and the theme music along are extremely expensive). Honestly if I was a producer on Terminator right now I would be worried.

It really is too bad, Terminator isn't a bad show. It's not great, but it's certainly much better then I expected it to be.

^ and probably paying James Cameron some royalties

Question: How bad are the ratings for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles? -- Dean
Ausiello:
Armageddon-like? An SCC insider tells me that if the show's numbers don't start to climb, Fox is unlikely to order any additional episodes beyond the 13 currently in the pipeline. At Saturday's EW pre-Emmy bash, Thomas Dekker remained hopeful that they could hold off doomsday at least until the end of football season. "We¹re up against Monday Night Football," he sighed, "which is tricky because we have a lot of football fans.

uh oh

^ Well the numbers DID climb this week for a change. Like I said, I still think that at this point so early in the season, we can only speculate as to what will happen.

Edit: by the way, when DOES the Football season end?

I think The Sarah Connor Chronicles will last at least a couple more seasons. It has a well rooted fanbase and is part of a popular franchise. Also I doubt Fox would pass up the cross-promtion potential when the new movie comes out next year.

Fox is not only counting Nielson ratings but online downloads from iTunes, viewership on the website, viewership on Hulu, and DVR recordings in addition to the standard Nielsen ratings with the series. Plus it's streamed live on the website for those on College campuses.

There is a rumor though that Fox may move it to FX.

If they did, we could see some bad language, violence, and ass just like on The Shield, eh? Might be a good move for a show who premise was based in a very hard "R" original movie.

^ Actually, I'd be very happy if it last "a couple more seasons" because according to the writers, they planned to go for only 4 seasons total (which makes sense since Judgment Day is supposed to occur in 2011 in the show)

Edit: I'm starting to think I should just enjoy the show and not pay any attention to the ratings.

Edit Edit: Is there any particular reason why this poll is going to close on Oct 7?

Edit Edit Edit: When DOES the Football season end?

Re: Terminator: TSCC=soon to be terminated?

Oh and as a side note, if FOX does cancel the show, I'm still going to watch the channel as long as "Family Guy" is still on.

I also wonder how many people are downloading the show illegally off of bitetorrents.

Edit Edit Edit: When DOES the Football season end?
NFL Monday night football ends the same time each year, the last monday of the calendar year. In this case its actually the 2nd to last on Dec.22 Then playoffs start the first of January after the college bowl games.

However, TSCC will go on hiatus(should it survive) before then most likely. At any rate it'll have to contend with it the whole time.

I also wonder how many people are downloading the show illegally off of bitetorrents.

There's currently 14 thousand using the torrent I am on for episode 3, but it's 3 days old and there are dozens of seperate torrents spreading the workload, and then there's usenet (and other pay sites.) to consider and all the people still on dial up waiting for the compressed episode coming out in a day or so which is a third the size.

Though you have to remember that is world wide, and for people like me who really cannot be bothered waiting another year or two for our local networks to get their asses into gear and plonk the bugger onto my TV screen legally. Voyager and DS9 VHS tapes at te local rental shops used to be three years ahead of what was airing on Thursday nights back when I was a lad.

One of my flatmates came back from Bangladesh with a huge pouch of DVDs. I watched her season one Ugly Betty which externally looked like the real thing... but as I began to examine the details I quickly realized that they were internet downloads. :)

But all that only detracts from Nielson ratings if some one is ignoring their Nielson box because they are downloading off the net, which is just crazy.

There was an episode of Night Court where a Nielson Family ended up in Judge Harry's court... "please, we have to get out of here quickly, its a matter of life and death, we have to watch TV!" -- "That doesn't sound like a matter of life and death?" -- "Last time we had a power cut, they cancelled Star Trek."

The initial numbers were unrealistically inflated. The real killer is that it's #4 in the demo for its timeslot now. If it were #1 or #2, the ratings drop wouldn't necessarily be fatal (tho sub-6M is never good). There's the real possibility it could be cancelled mid-season, an option you didn't list.

Well, given the competition this particular week, I'm not surprised. I have a feeling it'll probably get back to 3rd place next week. Hopefully, it can also climb back up to 6 million sometime soon.

I'm still maintaining that it's too early to make any accurate predictions yet.

I hope it lasts to the end of this season, and even gets a couple more seasons, but I am getting concerned about SCC's future.

I am getting sick of decent sci fi shows getting axed, while mindless reality shows continue onwards, too.

I like the show, and I hope it gets at least another season. But I'm not going to be surprised if it gets canned in the next 3 months.

Catchy ;)
