Terminator(4): Salvation has wrapped and is in post

I don't think the Govenator really matters to the Terminator franchise anymore, especially given his age.

^^^
I agree. Bale is the new face of Terminator. Arnold will not be missed at this point in the story either.

I'm sorry, that's just silly. This is going to bomb without Arnold.
He could get his ass in shape one more time for a three second "arrival" shot, just as he did in 3. Don't forget, those photos of him in horrible shape were taken before he pulled it together for T3.

I don't think it will bomb, but it probably will suffer. I know a couple of people who won't give the tv show a chance because Arnie isn't in it.

Well that is just silly on your friends then. To expect Arnold to be in the TV show...while he's still governor. Even if he wasn't he wouldn't to TV.
There are a multiude of reasons to not watch the TV show(I'm not) and lack of Arnold isn't even in the top 3. I'd at least understand that for the movies, like Beaker is insisting on.

However, he and others are going to be in for a shock when Salvation with the hot as fire Bale makes the franchise a force at the box office next May. His star power has done nothing but grow the last 5-6 years and TDK only solidifies him there. Salvation will put cement around that star.

Well I think its silly too, but I, like you, am a giant nerd who likes things like Terminator because of the story and the universe. It isn't that my friends wanted or expected Arnie to do tv, they just didn't want to watch Terminator that didn't have him in. To a lot of people T1 and 2 aren't in the "scifi action classic" bracket that we put them in, but in the "Arnie kills everything" bracket, which is rather different.

I think McG is very, very fortunate to have Bale in there. I'm not sure that anyone was expecting TDK to THAT successful and Bale to be in the position he's in right now. I definitely think he's going to draw a lot of people.

Christian Bale is one of the few child stars to rebound big in the spotlight in Hollywood in recent years. Someone needs to get Henry Thomas ("E.T.") and Gary Coleman ("Diff'rent Strokes") a new agent...

I'll admit that I'm excited over the possibility of T4, but I don't think it's going to be by any means a hit. It'll be a success, but not a hit.

Will Arnold not being involved have an effect? Yes I think it will. To many people a Terminator film without Arnold is something they have difficulty dealing with (no I am not one of them). The fact that Arnold has said in interviews that he has seen the completed film and read the script - minus the effects - and said he found it confusing may not help either.

Bale is doing well as an actor, that isn't being disputed, but I think that people over inflate his draw. Many people who I know that aren't Batman fans said openly to me that they only went because it was Heath Ledger's final film. I think that Bale will get some people in the seats, but I don't think it'll be a mega blockbuster. I estimate over the entire summer 2009 it'll get only around 200 million total.
