^ Hmm I wonder why I thought it was St. Christophers...

Found the answer to my question: I watched Diary of the Dead and the one character had a Saint Christopher's Medal.

Since it was a Saint Jude's medal than it makes even more sense when you consider the two things that he is the patron saint of: Lost causes and desperate situations. Earlier in the episode Lauren's father called her a lost cause, if you go by what was said in the episode then it seems Lauren has accepted her new role and the future that she will face. She's learning how to survive and keep her sister alive. The left behind medal could signify that she is no longer a lost cause.

As for the desperate situation: I can't think of anything that would mean leaving behind the medal other than it was a target.
