terminator 2

Dr Miles Dyson.

I saw him on Scandal today and he was the shit.

Just an old dude talking about fishing and it was terrifying.

I recently read a Terminator comic from the 80s. After Judgement Day, Skynet sends a Terminator into deepest darkest Africa to undertake a mission of some sort where they run across a tribe of African Bushmen who have barely ever seen white culture or white people and it might as well be 6 bc as far as they are concerned. Humorously the only way that they eventually win their fight with the Terminator by learning how to use dynamite from reading/observing the actions in a Bugs Bunny comic book.

South America, I believe.

Also from these comics, there's a thriving colony of humans on the moon. But every now and then they have to sneak down to earth in a cloaked shuttle and and load up on resources that they can't fabricate on Luna. Skynet gets in a lucky shot and the cloaked shuttle crashes, so in the aftermath of this, moon men are sneaking around trying to find spare parts to fix their ship while trying not to give Skynet any reason to target Earth's remaining nukes at their home in space.

(Published by Now Comics 1988 -1990.)

Also featuring the first published work by Alex Ross. I collected that whole series first-run.

I like Terminator 2 quite a bit. I still think the original is by far the best, though.

However, if this thread has accomplished one thing, it's that it's reminded me that I haven't seen Wayne's World 2 in years. Probably over a decade. Off to Netflix I go...

While you're at it, watch the first Wayne's World again too. It has a cameo by Robert Patrick as the T-1000 in it. ;)

You and me both.

Wow, I could have sworn that cameo was in the second film. Guess it really has been a while.

And Netflix isn't giving me an option anyway. They have Wayne's World, but not Wayne's World 2. It's shit like this that makes me want to cancel my Netflix sub and try Amazon Prime instead.

Servo your Avatar rocks!...Many's the time I have imagined enjoying BBS in just such a way! Guess that makes me a "B-B-Belieber 3000"

:)

I love T2

It's basically the first film all over again but with some money. Straightforward premise that sets up each new action moment and some cool special effects. I love the way that in both films they end up in exactly the right kind of factory to destroy that particular terminator

All the sequels after it are just terrible noise though

I'm intrigued by genesis and will definitely see it but the fact that they've spelt it in a manner befitting a 15 year olde internetter would suggest it will be awful. I like the idea of Kyle arriving in a parallel universe though. That will tickle me for a few minutes (until the awfulness sets in)

I think this is a great film one of the best actualy
for sci fi the first one was pretty cool.
Yes I think 1 and 2 are the BEST... They should have stopped after 2 :D

I like T1 the best. I love the 80s look and feel, Arnold as the bad guy, the "flashbacks" to the future, and I also loved the all-too-brief chemistry between Paul Winfield and Lance Henricksen.

Paul Winfield: "How do I look?"
Lance: "Like shit, boss."
Paul Winfield: "Yo, momma."

I still enjoyed T2, but I do think it's slightly overrated. Edward Furlong has a touch of Jar Jar Binks, and the desert stuff dragged a bit, but it's still a good movie.

Let me explain.

If you were 7 or younger when Phantom came out, then Jar-Jar was cool, but if you were 15 or older, Jar-Jar was a #### deserving a kicking.

Let's label the figure conceptually as a "patronizing youth token".

Because I was 12 when Terminator 2 came out, I was on the extreme border of identifying with teen John as an edgy role model who breaks all the rules because he's new Fonzie.

If I had been 16, my response most likely would have been, fuck off you dipshit fleck of spotty snot, you fucked up orphan... How have you got Skynet by the balls when your's ain't even dropped yet to know what balls are?

Ditto with Ewoks.

I was seven. Thought they were cool. First impressions stick. They'll always be cool to me. Maybe.

30 year old me wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between an Ewok and a tellytubby.

Equally condescenday mouse scat designed to make children spend all their parents money on merch.

Age appropriateness is why Bronies should be a list given to people with a lot of rope.

I was 21 at the time, and that is EXACTLY the attitude I had (and still do have) towards that snotty little bastard.

As for the film itself: I'm not ashamed to admit that I prefer the Future Coda ending. (I'm still holding out hope that a future T-film will end that way. With all this endless time travelling, I see it as poetic justice that Skynet will end up time travelling itself out of existence.)
