As the project is still in the early stages, plot details are being kept under wraps. Netflix has partnered with Skydance on the series, with Skydance having produced the last two “Terminator” films. The series is produced in partnership with Production I.G , who Netflix has had a production line deal with since 2018. Production I.G’s past anime credits include “Ghost in the Shell,” “B: The Beginning,” and “Eden of the East.”

Mattson Tomlin will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the series. Tomlin most recently wrote the Netflix original film “Project Power” and worked on the screenplay for Matt Reeves’ upcoming film “The Batman.”

Hopefully it’s better than the recent sequels.

I.G. is a good studio. So that's good. Now if they do the "other " ai and not skynet I'll probably pass

Set it 100 years in the future on a Mars colony humans made to live on after the Terminators were defeated and left earth scorched. Terminators show up on Mars to kill them. John Conner is brought back to life as a clone duplicate to lead the fight. Along side his great great granddaughter Jason

Terminator is a franchise in dire need of a fresh approach. So as long as they do anything other than that same story that five of the six films already did I'm on board.

Indeed. While Terminator Salvation was critically panned, it was the first movie that took the franchise into a new direction. One that organically fits into the timeline: instead of just sending another Temmi into the past, let's show the Future War. It was also clever for having a "terminator" from the past appear in the future!

It's so soul-crushing that trilogy wasn't completed.

While I salute the attempt to finally break free of the format, it's pretty disappointing how poorly scripted Salvation was. But with McG directing and the writers of T3, what were they expecting?

Hey McG has made and directed those fun Babysitter is a killer movies on Netflix.

Haven't seen 'em, but did enjoy the two Charlie's Angels he did. The problem (IMO) lies when it's McG and those two writers on a Terminator project. Plenty of good ideas, a bunch of really bad ones, and an unsuitable director making all the key decisions.

Barely related, but people remember Bale's rant on set, but how come no one ever brings up the fact that McG tried to get into a literal dick measuring contest with Michael Bay? :D
