Tenth Doctor's possible return?

Theme night? I'm expecting BBC4 to run old and new Who episodes solidly all weekend, with documentaries, clips, voice-overs... a full on Whoweekend celebration. Pausing on Saturday evening while a special hour-long new ep is broadcast on BBC1.

BBC 4 are good at that sort of thing. I can see it happening!

Depends on what the BBC want to do, it is possible, they would run part of it on BBC2. They've done it beofre for shows like Red Dwarf. and how many shows make it to 50, they'll have to do something for it. My guss any theme day/night would open with "An Unearthly Child"

Yeah, but BBC Four wasn't around for Red Dwarf's 10th anniversary, was it?

Can't Sonic Won't Sonic

To quote the 11th ... "We've moved on".

And that's the thing - those multi-Doctor stories of the past were great, but they caused no end of trouble for continuity. Where's the jeopardy if the Doctor knows he's going to regenerate?

There are fanon workarounds, of course: the Time Lords erasing memory and such. And Time Crash pretty strongly implies the cloister bell triggered memories in the Tenth Doctor.

But the problem I have with multi-Doctor stories is they look backwards. I'd rather DW look forwards. As the 11th Doctor says "we've moved on" (which I think spells out that we won't see Tennant anytime soon).

The best we can hope for, in my opinion, is some sort of flashback. But then that'll be tough to pull off as Tennant gets older. Certainly there's need to be some explaining for Tom Baker's appearance. "The Two Doctors" let slide the fact Troughton was now greyhaired, opening a whole kettle of worms.

Sometimes I find this whole "bring back the last guy" idea a bit disturbing as it indicates a lack of confidence in the current guy. Smith isn't everyone's cup of tea, but that's OK - in a year or two we'll have someone else to harp about, and I'm sure someone will start a thread asking when the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors might get together. And if the Twelfth Doctor does end up being of female appearance, the slash fic crowd will have a field day.

No, don't me wrong. I love Matt Smith. He is one of my favrorite Doctors with his energy and bow tie. I just want there to be an opportunity to see both my favorite Doctors play off each other.

I'd be surprised if 10B wasn't created with a view to allowing Tennant to return at any conceivable stage and not have to explain away the fact that the actor/ character now looks older than the Tenth Doctor did when he regenerated.

Just saw him in the trailer for the Fright Night remake. Maybe we'll eventually see him and Eccleston in a non Doctor Who movie, together.

BBC4 ain't gonna run a whole weekend of shit. they only broadcast after 7PM same as BBC3 because CBBC and CBeebies broadcast on those freqs before 7PM.

if they do anything it'll be airing reruns on 3 or 4 over the week, airing a few documentaries and a theme night on BBC2.

I've only ever seen half of Jude, Tennant must have been very young in it. I caught it after it started and was too tired to watch to the end, even though I was quite enjoying it. Always meant to catch it again some day!

I think that was one of the reasons behind 10.5 as well...

As long as a past Doctor is recognizable, I don't really see a major problem with them appearing older than when they regenerated (IE: Peter Davison in Time Crash, was very recognizable, even though it's been so long and Troughton as well in the Two Doctors). The Baker Boys, however, I'm not sure that wigs and the outfits would be enough to make them instantly recognizable.

True, but whilst BBC4 could air the bulk of it. I wuld still expect to see some of it on BBC1/2.

In the case of the BBC it can be a case the higher the channel the more important the BBC places on it. BBC1 being the more important channel.

Troughton had aged very gracefully. So has Davison.
