Ten Forward Lounge - Miscellaneous General Chat & Welcome Thread

Hello. Old time trekbbs user established 2002
Not been an active memeber in so long, the board was a different colour back in the day. Was shocked my account is still active and not been purged.
Getting back into Star Trek after a long break. Good to meet any noobs and any veterans from back in the day when we used fight about voyager and enterprise.

Welcome! Or, maybe you should welcome me!

Hello. Was originally here in the early 2000's (around 2001 or 2002) under a different name (Captain Talya Marsh), but quit due to multiple things like ableist comments being directed at me/other disabled members (similar thing happened to me at other Trek Boards), do not have internet access at home, life in general.

Trek has changed our lives so much over the years. I don't think you'll find any other movie or TV show that you can connect directly to life today like it. Cell phones. 3-D chess. Discussions about racism and other political concepts.

My GateTrek was TAS. I would have been a little too young for TOS viewing when TAS was first broadcast one Saturday morning in Anchorage, AK. When I spotted TOS in afternoon syndication a year or so later, I was so happy they'd made a live version of the show, and Mom didn't mind me watching. She'd quickly turn the channel from Love, American Style, MASH or Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman tho! After the hook was set with the afternoon episodes, a family move to a Trek-free broadcast market meant searching for Trek books that kept me sorta happy until TMP. That market broadcast no Trek until TNG debuted.

I enjoy the Miscellaneous section as much as any subforum for the randomness of topics and mostly intelligent discourse in same. I credit the Admins for keeping this place from becoming a URL I wouldn't visit twice. Thanks.
