Temporal Threads - A Uniform Database

I have to say that these uniforms are QUITE snazzy and lovingly depicted; one must admit that whenever someone mentions 'Starfleet Marines' I tend to substitute 'MACOs' (for some reason 'Starfleet' and 'Marine' just don't quite fit together in my imagination; blame too much time spent with the Colonial Marines and the Adeptus Astartes!).

Left to right, USS Herald, USS Intrepid, USS Defiant and 4th (IV) Marine Division. I personally ascribe to the ship mission patch concept.
Really like this update and the multiple division patches. Was always one of my favorite aspects of TOS and showcasing the variety of designs. So, this is right up my alley :)

In my headcanon the marines also wear green. For some reason or another that's the color that suits them most. And seeing as I too adhere to the mission patches, I only see good stuff here

I have always understood that the the Starfleet Marines are not as large as the Starfleet Navy. Very much like the Royal Marines and the US Marine Corps, who both fall under their respective Navies, the SFMC would also come under Starfleet's chain of command.

If any Military force comes under the banner of the UFP directly (besides Starfleet) it would be a Federal Army, which in most instances may instead be a Planetary Militia. However the UFP Army may only be made up of a basic staff of trainers and ceremonial units. Some of the duties of a Federation Army may be handled by the Federation Naval Patrol.

The size of the SFMC would also increase and decrease depending on current conflicts, maintaining between 4 (standing) and 8 (wartime) divisions and several specialised Starships. Once again similar to the USMC who have several vessels like the USS Wasp (LHD-1) which are specially outfitted to provide Assault Support and Transport Marines as required. There may also be a program for gaining/transferring a Commission in either service as needs and training regimes require.

I personally prefer the Green colouring for the SFMC as their Uniform division, with the exception of the Blue for the TWOK uniform, and my designs will reflect that, as well as the Starfighter Corps featuring an Orange divisional colour, but that is another discussion in itself.

years ago i seen Orange colored division for Starfleet Intelligence
Interesting. I've seen primarily purple for Intelligence, Green for Marines, and a deep Navy blue for Starfighter corps, white for diplomacy. Lots of variety out there.

True that i think the Starfleet Battles universe Purple was for ESP users in Starfleet too but i might need to reread the book i have even though its out of date.

For my line of uniforms I have settled on the following,

Red - Command, Flight Control, Strategic operations, Navigation
Yellow - Engineering, Tactical, Security, Operations
Grey - Starfleet Intelligence (not Sect 31)
Teal - Medical, Science
Green - Marines
Orange - Flight Operations (Starfighters)
Purple - Diplomatic corps
White - Civilian scientist, Civilian contractor (When/if required to wear uniform)

That is a basic outline, I have a more extensive list of what is covered under each division, but I can't provide examples at this stage.

That would be interesting to see the ESPers as an part of Starfleet regular ranks.

Would be quite interesting to see this all filled out. I forgot about gray as Intelligence too. I've see that too.

Uniforms are a bit of an obsession of mine so I have a lot of different links that might be helpful. This one has a VIP guard, Intelligence uniforms (that's where I found purple), as well as a Flight Uniform. https://misc.axiom.ky/custom-uni.htm

I hope everyone has had a fantastic Holiday period, filled with loved ones and great memories! And to a lesser extent, socks that fit..

Have been working on the set below, which encompasses uniforms from the Axanar fan film, and the Original series. Still waiting to finish the whole set of uniforms, with female versions of the Axanar and Cadet uniforms. But I am happy with the set so far, these are highly polished using only Illustrator which is how I will proceed with the designs going forward. Took me a while to get used to Illustrator's controls, especially with regards to colours, gradients and layer blending styles, but it is paying dividends.

Also interesting note, but I did not come across any instance of TOS female personnel wearing pants (besides the Cage era uniforms). But I am more than welcome to be told otherwise. As usual keen to hear feedback, questions and comments :)

Top Row (Left to Right):
1-3: USS Mjolnir
4: Marines

6-7: Marines
Bottom Row (Left to Right):

I remember at least one; the woman that Charlie aged in Charlie X (the girl Rand tried to set him up with, Yeoman Lawton). There is at least one other, but I don't remember which episode she was in.

Correct on the woman he ages; definitely gold shirt with pants. Yeoman Lawton wore a blue skirt with black tights. I think the other woman was a hapless bystander who opened her quarter's door at the wrong time.

That is perfect thank you both! I knew I had seen it at some point. I was torn between having a standard male type collar for that variant, but went with the wider option. Glad I did now.

Wow they really must of had a costume shortage! Looks like the Male version but reclipped the collar to make it look like the other ones.

I think it was meant to be "baggy" since it was supposed to be worn next by the aged woman version, too.

There are a couple, as well as in Kelvin Universe too:
