I learnt a lot from the book such as molasses's part in US history. I would say that the read was more fascinating than enjoyable. The book covers the five years leading up to the disaster and the five years following it.
My place of birth has a crater on Mars, 28km in diameter, named after it. No doubt named as such because of the remarkable similarity between the two.![]()

I have lived here all but the 5 years I was in the air force and have never seen it. They want too much. Its the poor man paying to see how the rich man lives. I went to the winery once and once when the winery was the dairy because one of my friends dad worked there. I worked at a gas station right in front of the entrance for a couple years. People that worked there said they were going to get me free tickets but they never did. I even ran a wrecker once and picked a car up on the drive up to the house but never got to see the house close up. I have seen it from the surrounding hills though. At Christmas time the grove park is a good place to see also and its free. Its funny how we will go 500 miles to pay and see something but if its 8 miles away we ain't going to pay it LOL.^ And an extraordinarily beautiful one too. I visit at least once a year usually at Christmas.![]()
I live on Long Island which is the most segregated area in all of the U.S.
Hmm...the settlement that became Seattle was originally called New York-Alki, and the neighborhood where I spent a good chunk of my childhood, West Seattle, was originally called Brooklyn -- a fact I did not learn until I'd lived in Brooklyn, NY for several years.
