I'm happy that I once again woke up this morning and had a job to go to. Woo!
I finally collected on several thousand dollars' worth of back pay from my old company (I left in February and moved), and while I'm still unemployed, my freelance work has me looking at around $3,500 in receivables for August to go with my $2,500 in billings for July, so my formerly bleak financial situation isn't nearly as dire anymore.
Well even I have some good news today. I am inching closer to a job, maybe. Today I had an assessment that mostly consisted of an interview. It was the type of interview where I had to tell long stories about my work history to make myself look good. That ranks right above having a sharp object inserted in my urethra on my list of favorite things to do. I was sure I completely bombed. But I guess I didn't because they came out and said "congratulations you passed". It is a part-time government job and dependent on available positions so even if I pass everything I am not necessarily guaranteed a job. But all I have left is a medical and background check to do. I hate to admit it, but the unemployment critics are kind of right. Being destitute is a good motivator.
Of course I got some bad news too, but that's another thread.![]()
A paper of mine is about to be published. And, most importantly, my boyfriend who is currently doing his (mandatory) service at the Navy is coming back in 12 days and staying with me for more than a week!![]()
Today was the first day of my "retirement", at least from full-time work.![]()

I know you have side stuff going on, but what's the general plan? Are you going to have loads of free time?
