Tell Me Something Happy About Your Life

My daughter and I are going to the Warp 10 convention in Northampton this November, so we're going to have a lovely "girlie weekend" together. Star Trek and shopping...yes!

Something happy? I have an 18 year old dog who has been my buddy for all but 6 weeks of that time, and the vet says I can forward to more happy & healthy years with him.

Also, I found a way to store movies on a hard drive and play them on a TV.

Something happy?

Well, I re-take the damn Bar next week and I'm getting anxious as anything--but once it's over, it's OVER!! I am VERY happy about that! And right afterwards, I'll get to see friends I haven't seen in years and go to Disneyland's Club 33.

My doctor is happy with my blood pressure--astoundingly normal considering the stress/worry/anxiety I'm undergoing. I'm otherwise relatively healthy--and after next week, I'll get to go to the gym when I want. So I can try to lose some weight. Always a good thing. Well, for non-anorexics, I guess.

Hubby loves me and we can still joke around. He's even considering a trip to Europe for us in 2011 or 2012. We watched "Murder on the Orient Express" and he's even liking the idea of blowing a wad of cash to do ride on that! That's like $3K from London to Venice! "Mister I'm-really-careful-with-money" has become "Mister I-don't-want-to-die-with-regrets"

Rage, I hope you become less-bummed. You're really helping people focus on what's going RIGHT in their lives. I hope that makes you happy, at least a little.

propita - I went to the Club in 2001 and it is an INCREDIBLE experience!

Make sure you pop into Walt's dining room and see the vultures in the corners of the room's ceiling. These are the ones he was going to have microphones in so unseen cm's could respond to guest conversation at dinnertime.

Also make sure you use the bathroom and take some little toiletry things and TAKE LOTS OF MONEY so you can buy lots of souvenirs of the meal! We bought shot glasses, pens and a tie, IIRC. Oh and take your swizzle sticks and napkins too - lots of things have the Club logo on them!!!

Oh and another thing - I think the dress standard is quite strict now for eating there. I think it's jackets and good shoes for men and evening wear for women.

Have fun - it is a once in a lifetime(maybe)experience and it is MAGICAL!!!

I just got shitted out of a raise at my job by a single asshole customer.

Happy? Hell yeah! I get to find a better job! The proverbial straw! Amen!

I am bummed and despondent. I don't know why. Just last week I found out I was part of this big new group called the 99ers. And we're getting bigger every day! Even reading all these stories about them and their lives hasn't cheered me up. In fact it's only made me feel worse and more of a failure. So whenever I get this hopeless there is only one thing to do. Live vicariously through my Internet friends!

Tell me something good that is going on in your life right now. Anyone have a new job? New romance? New addition to the family? Find a golden ticket in a candy bar? Anybody going to get drunk tonight? Going to get laid tonight? Or peferably both?

Hopefully I can spread a bit of cheer for a change.

No one is a failure
So please do not say that about yourself
My daughter used to be the same and always put her self down over the most simplest thing.
She also lived on the internet and had online freinds
it helped for a while bad she still felt sad and bored with herself.
She also had freinds who didnt except her most of the time but she kept pushing her self with my help encouraging her.to talk about things they were interested in

My life has it ups and downs but l am happy to have my family and my wonderful daughter
I love earnig money so l can pay off my daughter schooling
and see that she reaches her goals in life.

^ Ang, please take this as the sincere compliment that it is. I really like the way you type...it's almost like a haiku. Please continue doing it. :)

My happiness: I just got back from a trip to a brand new ballpark (Target Field in Minneapolis) and had a great time there. And on August 1, I get to go to New York City for two weeks! :techman:

I went through a soul crushing loss earlier this year but I've met someone new so fuck all that stuff.

Thanks. I've had the very good fortune of being there before. A former-former-co-worker (she left the company before I left the company)... well her beau works with a guy who has a joint-membership to Club 33.

Hubby and I (Disney fans but not fanatics) never thought we'd get to go there, ever! Then she invited us as part of a group from work. And then again with just them when the planned invitees backed out. (WHAT?! Yeah.) AND arranged for us to go on our wedding day! Our simple layer cake/wedding cake was made by the Disneyland bakery. It had Beauty and the Beast on it. And we went for Hubby's birthday. And then at least twice more. Maybe three times more. I lost count.

We have a pretty small but cool collection of stuff we got there--pins, a pen, watches, shirts, caps, champagne glasses, mugs, etc. And Hubby said I could buy pretty much whatever I want this time, cause it's likely to be the last. It's been at least 5 yrs since we were there.

Nice to know someone else here likes/knows it.

Anyway, Rage, are you doing okay?

Do you see how you've made people think about what they have instead of what they don't have? Does that mean anything positive to you? I hope it provides you with some good feelings--that you've increased positive thoughts. I hope that this helps you back.

I just had a complete physical exam and my doctor informed me that my blood pressure, blood sugar (I have mild type-2 diabetes, for which I take medication) and all the other stuff they test is well within normal limits. So, barring a fatal accident or random violence, I should live another few decades.

Well, for me, that's happy news.

Oh and another thing - I think the dress standard is quite strict now for eating there. I think it's jackets and good shoes for men . . .
Are pants optional?

1] Don't feel bad. You're not the only 99er here. We're like properly cooked rice. We stick together. ;)

2] Thanks to a good friend who really helped, I have two Gold passes for Chicago's 2010 Star Trek Convention, with front row seats by the stage, and I am very much looking forward to it. I don't know what my situation will be by October, but I do know that at least for a few days, I won't have to worry about any of it.

What's going on good in my life?

Hmm... I'm old enough to smell bullshit from two counties over, and young enough not to care too much. :D

Well even I have some good news today. I am inching closer to a job, maybe. Today I had an assessment that mostly consisted of an interview. It was the type of interview where I had to tell long stories about my work history to make myself look good. That ranks right above having a sharp object inserted in my urethra on my list of favorite things to do. I was sure I completely bombed. But I guess I didn't because they came out and said "congratulations you passed". It is a part-time government job and dependent on available positions so even if I pass everything I am not necessarily guaranteed a job. But all I have left is a medical and background check to do. I hate to admit it, but the unemployment critics are kind of right. Being destitute is a good motivator.

Of course I got some bad news too, but that's another thread.;)

I am happy my jaw is no longer swollen...I still need these 2 teeth out and I am now getting drunk! :bolian:

We, the collective "we" who are participating in this thread and on the Trek BBS in general, all live in nations where we have electricity and computers and at the very least are not living a hardscrabble hand-to-mouth existence and have time to talk about the happy things in our lives.

Relatively clean air, fresh water, and for me, a big honkin' bowl of ice cream!
