Tell a TNG Story, a little at a time.

Argus Skyhawk

Everyone is invited to participate. I'll start:

Dressed like locals, Riker, Data, Crusher, and Worf materialized just south of the attacked village. Smoke poured from various houses and buildings, and Worf clearly heard cries of pain coming from various directions. A frightened man with violet skin rode toward them on a horse-like creature with six legs.

With no-one competent left to pilot the ship, Counselor Troi takes the helm. Immediately ship is powerfully rocked and the impulse engines go offline. The planet looms suddenly larger in the viewscreen...

Meanwhile back on the planet the man riding the six-legged creature rides up to Riker and gets off and imediately falls to his knee's in tears. "Are you the evil one?" Please, I beg of you to save the alien natives of this world. If blood is what you want ,youcan have mine and those of my crew." Riker all of sudden feels a moment of physical pain and also collapses to the groud. When he gets up though he has the look of evil in his eyes and pulls out his phaser and kills the man who was pleading with him. Slowly "Riker" turns to his fellow crewmates and utters "I'm back!" with a grin that can only be described as sadistic.

Worf whipped out his own phaser and stunned Riker. As the First Officer stumbled backward, caught himself, and gave Worf a nasty grin, Crusher slapped her comlink and yelled, "Geordi, beam Commander Riker directly to the brig. Something is controlling his body." Riker scowled as he dematerialized. The six-legged horse galloped off toward the flaming village.

Meanwhile, on the holodeck, Picard enjoyed a horse riding experience when by some shock he happened upon the historical figure of Mr. William Shatner, a holodeck recreation, who was riding a horse of his own. Mr. Shatner informed Picard that in the future there would be an alternate universe and Picard would not look or sound the same. Picard was disturbed by this notion and hoped that in fact he would be able to travel to the alternate universe as an old man to help his younger self get the captaincy of the Enterprise. Mr. Shatner warned against doing this unless Picard assured Mr. Shatner that once Picard Prime had gone back in time then he would have more than just a cameo in the young Alternate Picard's life. After Jean-Luc agreed Mr. Shatner was happy and told him that to have it any other way would have been a "bad business decision".

On the bridge, Troi, Geordi and Ro Laren struggle with the situation. "Impulse drive has failed to re-initialise!" Geordi reports. "Time to impact?" asks Deana. There are less than 30 seconds left - Troi asks for options and the only chance seems to attempt to bounce the Enterprise of the heavier atmospheric layers, with the aid of the deflector...

Ro took the helm and said, "I'm angling the trajectors to 47 degrees. Impact in 19 seconds." Geordi said, "Reinforcing the deflector array." Troi said, "All hands, brace for impact!" The ship shuddered.

Troi's warning was voiced over the loudspeaker, so Picard heard it in the holodeck. "Computer, end program immediately!" he shouted, and fell to the floor as his horse vanished out from under him. His surroundings changed to the black-and-yellow holodeck walls. He stumbled to his feet, only to be knocked down again as the Enterprise crashed into a thick layer of the planet's atmosphere.

In the brig, the possessed Riker chuckled wickedly as he felt the ship shudder violently.

Picard arrived on the bridge, noticed that it was Ro who was flying the ship, and mentally apologized for blaming Deanna. "Report!" he called out. Deanna vacated the captain's chair and said, "We bounced the ship off the atmosphere to avoid a crash. Commander Riker is in the brig because Dr. Crusher said he has been possessed. Data is nowhere to be found."

Picard addressed the computer, "What is the location of Lt. Commander Data?"

The computer responded, "Lt. Commander Data beamed to the surface of the planet half an hour ago along with Doctor Crusher, Commander Worf, and Commander Riker."

Ro said, "Commander Worf contacted us moments ago to say that Data left their group just after Riker was beamed back to the bridge, and no one knows why. They are searching for him."

"I'm afraid Data doesn't really have feelings, Captain - at least non that I can detect."
"In that case, Geordi" said Picard, changing tack "any sign of him on the sensors?"

"Our sensors went down when we bounced off the atmosphere. It will take me about 20 minutes to repair them," Geordi said.

"Make it so," Picard ordered.

………………………………..........................................................

“Yes,” Data told his captor, a beautiful green android, “I am fully functional.”

"Good," she said, with a sly grin. "However, that is not the only reason I've brought you here," she said. "You have information I need. I am willing make certain you are properly compensated for it."

Data hesitated. "What information might that be?"

Several miles away, Beverly Crusher scowled. "We don't have time to go searching for that android! We have to find the Ambassador in twelve hours or there will be blood! Data is just going to have to fend for himself until then."

Worf appeared startled to see the doctor in such a terrible mood. He said nothing as she turned away from him and stomped angrily toward the village. The burning village. The black smoke and the cries of pain were everywhere.

That was the source of her bad mood. She and Worf would have to comb the village for the Ambassador of Melquiz, and they were certain to encounter dozens, perhaps hundreds, of wounded and dying people. People that would desperately need the help of a medical expert such as herself.

And the Prime Directive would not let her help any of them. She knew the Prime Directive was important, but she deeply resented it sometimes.

Beverly stopped next to a child writhing in pain, burns over most of her body. A tear ran down her cheek as she started to walk away, but a thought stopped her again: Why should it be acceptable to change the natural course of this civilization by working with the Ambassador but not by helping this pitiful child?. Because Starfleet Command says so?

Beverly tapped her combadge. “Two to beam directly to sick bay,” she said, defiance obvious in her voice.

Beverly and the child dematerialized, leaving Worf. He was now the only remaining member of the party that had just beamed to the planet's surface. "If I had known I would be searching for the Ambassador myself, I would have paid more attention during the briefing," he grumbled. Glancing around at the village's skyline, he recognized the domed outline of the Chyrkaugh, the religious building where the ambassador was expected to be found, and started walking toward it, passing the bodies of several people lying on the street.

As he trudged unhappily toward the Chyrkaugh, Worf continued to grouse, “Now I’ll have to appear at Crusher’s court-martial. Even though she did the compassionate thing by violating the Prime Directive, she should have been more disciplined. Humans can get on my nerves s….” Catching movement to his left he spun.

“Data!” Worf said, “Where have you been?”

“I was detained by an android designed for sexual gratification: A pleasure model,” Data responded, “She wanted to know if there were survivors that needed comforting. I told her that I was sorry I did not have the information she required.”

“But you wandered off or you would not have encountered her,” Worf said, “You cannot let yourself be distracted from our mission. Sometimes you act too human.”

“I have been trying,” Data said, seeming pleased.

“That was not a compliment,” Worf replied.

A purple figure peering out of the Chyrkaugh caught their attention and they started off, once again, toward the damaged structure.

Picard turned to Deana - "I'll, uh I'll go and um interogate Commander Riker in the brig". He strode towards the turbo lift, the bridge crew's eye's following him. At the elevator doors, he turned and gave a small smile before exiting the bridge.

"You know," Deana said to Geordi "there's something not quite right about the Captain". "Yeah", breathed Geordi. "Computer, where is Captain Picard" asked Deana.

"Capain Picard is approaching the brig" came the reply.

Riker looked at Picard. “Dinitus, is that you?”

“Of course, fool. How did you let yourself be captured?”

When they reached the Chyrkaugh, Worf asked the diminutive figure, “Are you the Ambassador?”

His violet cat-like eyes regarded Worf and Data. “Yes, and welcome. This is a glorious day for your arrival.”

“This would seem to be a day that would certainly not be described as glorious,” Data said.

“Oh, I would not have picked this course of events, but in the long run it will only improve our race.”

Data looked at Worf. Worf glanced back at Data, and then at the ambassador. Over the agonized cries of a near by woman, Worf asked, “You approve of this?”

“Not in the least," replied the ambassador, "as I said, I would not have chosen this, but from the perspective of the future, it will be of great benefit to us.”
