Teams whining for a new stadium

^ Anything taking the Yankees down a peg is fine by me!

Wasn't there some talk of both the Chargers & the Raiders both moving to L.A. at the same time and sharing the same stadium? Sounded like madness to me, particularly on the Chargers' part. I can understand why L.A. fans might be eager to embrace the Raiders or the Rams since they both have a history in the city. But why would anyone in L.A. root for the Chargers if they already have another team?

Meanwhile, I'd be fine with Las Vegas finally getting a major team. I don't know why all of the leagues have been so pissy about that.

And while I'm not surprised that Oakland is unwilling to spend any money on a new stadium, can't we still all agree that imploding Oakland Coliseum would be a net benefit for all humanity? ;)

Well, they would certainly remove as much material of value (copper, wiring, etc) and make sure there was no asbestos or other hazardous material, but they would probably still implode the rest. Quickest way to get a building of that size down to manageable rubble.

The original plan; Raiders and Chargers move to Carson, Ca., was killed when the league voted to allow initially allow only the Rams and Chargers to move, and making the Raiders kind of an "alternate".

And you're right, the Chargers have practically no fanbase in L.A. or Orange Co. Dean Spanos would likely love to stay in San Diego, but only if he is given a rather large financial gift from the taxpayers.

Nice article! I see that the guy responsible for the Mississippi Braves is also partly responsible for the Huntsville Stars leaving. Can't get too mad there though, their attendance sucked, and they had an old stadium that is falling apart.
They don't implode stadiums. Too much money to be made from tearing the stuff out and selling it.
Hmm?
