teacake's Excellent Enterprise Adventure

When I lived in the Bay Area in the early 90s, there was a big convention at the Cow Palace, and then a much smaller con about 2 or 3 months later at Sacramento. So always keep your eyes open.

Teacake May I ask what con that was that was so small? I myself missed out on the San Francisco con a few months ago because I didn't know until last minute that I had childcare. And by then, I thought it would be sold out. I was so upset when I found out it wasn't! It's not far of a drive from where I am. And I consider going to Las Vegas, but I have a disabled kiddo that I don't want to be away from for that long.

This is in Melbourne, Australia. We have small, Trek only cons where they go to Melb for the Saturday and then fly to Sydney for the Sunday. Maximum people 200, it's just a conference room with the guests. There are no bad seats! This time I was sitting right in front of the chair the guests sat in.

We also have big multi-fandom cons which are much cheaper but also have thousands of people, lines, lots of cosplayers etc.. I pretty much go to all of them but I love the small ones. Get to know people who go regularly to the cons too.

Teacake, that's a nice looking piece you bought. Until you said that was a mug next to it, I assumed it was about skateboard size...
