Do you drink it?

As a kid watching TNG I always thought this Earl Grey tea must be pretty damn good if Picard drank it all the time. And I must admit it took me quite a while to be able to enjoy it -- I generally like my teas to be fruit or herb-infused, or at least sweet ... but in my old age (I'm 31 now ) I've found that a nice hot cup of Earl Grey can be perfect.

So I ask again: do you drink Earl Grey?

But then again, I am Indian, and prefer my tea to have flavour. Cardamom, Cloves, Cinammon, tea leaves, sugar, half water and half milk, brought to the boil and thick as nectar...

How long did you let it steep? More than four of five minutes will make it way too bitter. I never let it steep for more than three minutes.

At least you've tried it. Not a tea drinker here. But I will blow through a pot of coffee each morning.

I do drink it, but it's one of a whopping four early-day beverages which I switch through regularly. (Plus I'll drink them all whenever, which I guess I have in common with Picard from the sounds of it. I doubt he drinks that tea in the earlier hours only.)

I'll do Earl Gray, or black tea sweetened with sugar and milk, or coffee with French vanilla creamer, or an iced coffee.

I'd be the one guilty of sneaking darjeeling to the old man Picard. Heck, I prefer English breakfast.

I used to drink earl grey all the time, until someone served it to me as sweet iced tea. It was disgusting.

Still, I'll drink it occasionally, sweetened with cream.
Most of the time I just drink coffee flavored with a little ice cream to fake the flavored latte effect. Makes me wonder how the Klingons would deliver a latte raktajino. That'd be an interesting Starbucks eh?

I *love* Earl Grey - plain, no sugar, no milk. Plain. *Love* it. When I go into the tea store (yes, that's right - I go to a tea store and I buy my tea loose leaf) they're always trying to sell me something called Lady Earl Grey, which, as far as I can tell, is Earl Grey with a bunch of gunk added to it - citrus peel, for sure, and also vanilla and God knows what all. Bleah. Like I'm going to spend $20 a pound or whatever it is for citrus peel. I think not.

I do like other teas from time to time - my latest find is Assam. Good stuff, but I usually prefer Earl Grey.

Oh, and I agree that if you found it bitter, the fault was in the brewing not the tea. It's hard to get tea brewed properly in the U.S. though. I usually drink it only if I can brew it myself.
