TCM's political movies....

On Wednesdays throughout September TCM will be airing politically themed movies. Anyone else tuning in?

I loved Three Days Of The Condor (aired sometime back) as well as The Best Man and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. Last night I saw The Last Hurrah with Spencer Tracy and a young Jeffrey Hunter. I also recorded The Candidate with Robert Redford and I'll watch it tonight or this weekend.

Anyone else?

Yeah, it's a good line-up. I'm pleased that they'll be airing Advise and Consent, which I've long thought was underrated, and avoided obvious choices like Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

The Candidate and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington are both fine films. "What do we do now?"

I haven't seen Three Days of the Condor yet, but I've read some good things about it.

If only I had TCM .

I love Three Days Of The Condor. The scenario in it is chilling and frighteningly prophetic thirty years before the U.S. invading Iraq.

 

[The Lady Eve]

I like Gore Vidal's The Best Man. Even though it's over 40 years old, some of the observations about politcs are timeless and it's fun to see how Some Things Never Change. Plus, great cast.

I haven't seen the schedule but I hope they're also showing The Manchurian Candidate. Great political thriller and Angela Lansbury is chillingly eviiiil.

The Manchurian Candidate is brilliant. I don't know why they bothered re-making it. I still haven't seen the new version.
