TBS has canceled ...

Gil T.Azell

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
George Lopez

Some say there is a god
I read one quote posted on Facebook that read.
"I'm Mexican-Americans and I hate this racist Bastard"
Personally I never found this guy funny.

Funny thing is that Conan is pulling in pretty much the same numbers that Lopez did in the 11pm slot.

As much as i love Coco and his show.....he aint doing too hot in the ratings department, and that worries me. I've heard he's only pulling in numbers in the 700,000's lately. Now I know it's cable....and it's TBS, but that can't be good. Now I know there's a ton of people who watch the next day online or use their DVR, but still.....I am concerned, as I'm sure Conan is aswell.

That show just perpetuates the negative stereotype that George Lopez is funny.

There was an article in the local paper recently about how Conan is "An A student pretending to be a C student to be more popular". Ouch.

It made the point that his show wasn't doing so well because it was no longer edgy, not sure how true that is. I don't even have cable anymore.

Conan's problem, I think, is he keeps ending up on a show with the same old boring talk show format. I've always found him funnier when he's broken away from that, but even with a blank check from TBS he's been surprisingly conservative in form.

Conan is doing so-so? Never found him funny. At all. Leno, same thing. I have never gotten Leno and don't get why he's worth all those millions, but I guess the ratings say otherwise. Letterman is occasionally funny to me, I've never seen the Lopez talk show but enjoyed the little of his sitcom and movie work I've seen. Moving Lopez to a graveyard shift didn't help his ratings, I'm sure.

Everyone dissed NBC for bouncing Conan, but Leno pulled more viewers, so I guess it was the right decision. The last late night talk host I was impressed with the Johnny Carson, LOL!

Amen to that. He's also in the position of having to compete with The Daily Show & The Colbert Report; those two shows were a perfect fit with the old Late Show (as the crossover proved). Now Conan's competing with them with a far less edgy show, and against Letterman and Leno with more established versions of what he's doing now. It ain't working.

About time. Lopez is a racist idiot who is not even remotely funny.

I recorded his last two episodes, because I had heard it was ending. I wanted to see if I had missed anything.

I couldn't stand the host .. Lopez or whatever his name is. He appears to have some problem where he is unable to stand still. He is telling what he thinks are "jokes" and motioning to the audience *constantly* ... left hand, right hand, back and forth.

If he had been remotely amusing, I'm sure I could have gotten past it. Instead, he was simply annoying.

I fast-forwarded a bit til they brought out one of the Desperate Housewives, and the interview was all about how great he was, how important he was, and if the guest said anything that wasn't about him, he cut her off so he could talk about himself some more.

I may have watched two whole minutes of that interview before deleting both episodes. And he seriously wonders why he was canceled?

Wow. No love for George Lopez around here!

I've only seen bits and pieces of his talk show, but I liked his TV series. I've seen his stand-up act live too.

I like him. I think that going to Catholic school in Los Angeles, he's very familiar to me. I knew about 30 guys like him in high school.

I'm sure he'll land on his feet.

One of my best friends from high school was from Mexico. I get that humor and have nothing against Lopez. Maybe that style of humor didn't work in the talk show environment. Can't comment, never saw it.

Yeah...besides the racist jokes, this was my chief complaint as well. This guy's ego is WAY off the charts...and not at all in proportion to his popularity...or lack thereof. Extremely unattractive.

Perhaps his stand-up might appeal to the Hispanic community, in the same way as some African American comics' racial humor appeals more directly to that community.

But for my money, he comes off as an arrogant, unfunny douchebag who is 'all about me'.
