The video game industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that has been experiencing significant growth over the past decade and by everyone's expectations will continue to do so. Attracting video game companies to areas means attracting growing business and everything that goes along with that, and tax breaks are one tool governments have to do that.
Not sure why any of that should be particularly hard to understand or worthy of derision. It's all about money. What isn't?
