TAS reference

Thanks for pointing that out; that episode was worth buying the whole set of TAS. I finally saw after all those years where they got ideas of Vulcan for the Bird of Prey landing scene in Search for Spock. I will keep an eye out for the robes next time.

That scene at the academy was wonderful; the young Spock actor was very good -- especially with Sarek.

(Don't miss your last commuter train, Donald.)

The Vulcan kids who bully young Spock wore black clothing with a diagonal blue strip. Normally blue is not a common color in Vulcan design....

Except in one place. The animated episode Yesteryear. Where in a similar scene Vulcan kids wore diagonal blue sashes!

Seems like a stretch to me considering all of the other -ahem- liberties this movie took with established ideas about things. ;)

It'd be an awfully esoteric reference.

Looks more like a way to carry their lunch boxes to me:

It could be their book bags, or what passes for instructional material in that place and time.

That screencap from TAS - egads! It's like Hank Ketcham did a centerfold for NAMBLA Monthly! Yet another reason that show should never be canonzied!

Dude, they said they referenced every other ST series... so there it is... very cool!

This is Abrams after all. King of esoteric.
