TAS music compilation on YouTube!

It's a compilation of most of the music from TAS. It's missing at least one cue that I can think of, a slow "mystery" cue that was prominent in the alien ship scenes in "Beyond the Farthest Star." And some of the cues have problems with uneven gain or with a bit of sound-effect bleedthrough. Still, it's the closest thing we've ever had to a TAS soundtrack.

I recall someone from this forum working on an equivalent project. Is this the end result?

I've realized there are some other missing cues as well. There's one action cue that was used in many Filmation shows in the '70s, probably originating in Lassie's Rescue Rangers but commonly used in TAS, that begins with a two-note ping-pong, ping-pong followed by a rising and falling string glissando, and then repeats the glissando with other layers progressively added to build intensity, and then reverses the process. Also, the compilation lacks any of the stock Filmation comedy cues that were used occasionally, like at the end of "More Tribbles, More Troubles."

I am very glad, though, that the compilation has both versions of the string-heavy action cue that begins not long after the 10-minute mark -- one that's just the strings and horns, and one that adds a nice, jazzy percussion layer under it.

The points where the gain is lowered would be the points where there's dialogue or sound effects in the episode. The sound mixers who dubbed in the music would've turned down its gain during dialogue so it wouldn't get in the way. So the variations in volume would be intrinsic to the music track of the episode even once you've isolated it from the other audio tracks. The compiler probably did a lot of compensating for the volume variations in order to get it to sound as even as it does.

It would be nice if someone could re-orchestrate this as has been done with some of TOS' music. Listening to those snippets you realize there was actually quite a bit of variety there, I think more than many of us tend to remember.

I didn't see a credit, but that's Ok. I've gotten use to seeing my work on all kinds of stuff. I've learned to accept that once I put stuff on the web it's no longer mine to control.
I take it as a compliment that people want to share my stuff. The only time it still bugs me is when I see someone putting my work on a product and selling it.
