TAS "Keep America Beautiful" commercial

Does anybody else remember this "Keep America Beautiful" commercial back in the 70's?? Or am I just going crazy with madcow?? It was set on the bridge of the Enterprise from the cartoon with Kirk and Spock with speaking lines about the "Romulan pollution zone." If there wasn't a lot of red tape involved, it would have been a nice Easter egg for the recent TAS dvd set.

Don't have any memory of that except for the vague memory of an animated Kirk speaking about pollution in space. It could have been a reference to the Romulans.

I recall something like that...a public service message sort of thing, but the specifics escape me...

I'm glad some other people finally remember this tv commercial because up to now everyone thinks that I'm imagining it.

Speaking of radio spots, does anyone remember the name of the company that did the one where they're looking for more computer storage space for something and going around to any the senior officers asking if they have any? This was about 2-3 years ago? I remember hearing once in a while driving to work.

If I'm not mistaken there were two of these, the pollution ad and one where McCoy puts the whole crew on the (Girls Scouts?) physical fitness plan.

There was a second one?? That's awesome. Unfortunately, I don't remember seeing that one. If you remember, was McCoy the only talking in that one?

I remember the pollution ad more clearly. The physical fitness one had Kirk and McCoy discussing the crew medical exams or some such and it came up that the Girl Scouts program for eating right and exercising was a great way to stay healthy. It lacked the visual impact, such as it was, of a great swath of garbage in space, just stock TAS shots.

I hope I'm not hallucinating...

Girls Scouts, yes. I reamember that one very well. As to the other one.... I don't remember seeing this. I was hoping that both would be on the 'complete' DVD set... however there were not..and in addition to them F***ing up the Time Trap.

I don't remember any TAS public service announcement - I do remember a Star Trek related public-service announcement that was live-action, though. WDCA-TV, which re ran the series in the mid-seventies in the Washington DC area had an anti-pollution commercial in which school-age kids played the parts of Kirk, Spock and McCoy. In the commercial, they return to Earth and find it overrun by pollution.

What's wrong with "Time Trap" ?

They totally messed up the "zone". In the original it was a red cloud like area. In the new DVD they made it all just black. Why? Who knows.

Yeah, I'd really like to know what went into the decision to trash the Time Trap backgrounds. It was a big disappointment.

Maybe it was an overzealous color-correction during the restoration, analogous to the infamous story of the film printer who kept turning the green Orion woman pink again.
