TAS freighter...

Awesome! Great work. May I post it on my Pirates of Orion page?
Thanks. You can at least wait until it's finished, and I'm almost there.

I was actually just thinking of you and wondering if you might like some reference images when I'm done.

I know the two images are inconsistent, but I did some reverse-engineering of the perspective and from the 3/4 aft view it's pretty clear the "whiskers" are angled downward between 30 and 40 degrees from the horizontal, not not as far as 45. You've probably already done something like this. :)

I can see what you're saying, but candidly after changing it as I already have I'm not inclined to do it all over again. I think 48.5 degrees from the horizontal is close enough to 45 degrees from the horizontal.

This is a wonderfully great project. I love seeing work like this, as it helps bring to life the design that was just a plot element. Sweet work mate!
makes me want to redesign that beast :)

@Warped9:

On your list of names, Iroqois fits closest with Huron. But I still like my suggestion of Gitche Gumee.

Great work on your model.

I can't help but feel this design needs a bit more syrface detail. I'm not sure exactly what, but I'll give it some thought.

maybe a sight aztec to her? Or even some hull grid lines?
Brilliant work nevertheless.

WNMHGB-style "cheese grater" grilles on the aft tips of the nacelles, and spikes on the fronts of 'em?

I think the "bug eyes" bridge dome needs a little more surface detail. There should be some travel pod dock / airlocks on the sides of the ship. The underside lacks the TOS Enterprise colored shape markings. In fact, the nose-underside lacks any lighting detail. Maybe another small glowing dome or two?

I like her the way she looks now. If anything is added it will take away from the TOS feel of the ship.

Maybe some red rectangles a-la on the cutout of the TOS Enterprise's secondary hull?
Like this?

After working on this I have an urge to revisit the TAS scoutship type shuttlecraft. I think I can do it better. Well, I should think so because it was my very first major model in 3D and I've learned a lot since then.

Aw, man! You have forsaken the NCC-F0000 registry!?!? I loved that extra letter. It implied a larger system in place than just a perpetual series of "NCC" numbers.

As for extra surface detail, I really think you have it nailed already. More would just clutter it.

I also forgot about the F designation. I could fix it so we'll see.

Regarding added detail. I'm thinking only of a few lines or panels or differnt colour in a few spots. It would be almost unnoticeable except for the overall effect it might have. I'm not thinking of extensive detail. The surface texture could be roughed up a bit too and made a bit less reflective.

Sorry if I jumped the gun! I thought it was done. This is so sweet. I love this ship, I'd like to devout a whole page to it on my site. Please get in touch with me when your ready and we can build the page together if you'd like. Thanks!

One thing I like about this design is that it can be translated into a three-dimensional design with little change to make it more convincing. Looking at this model I can see one or two other things I could tweak to make it a little nicer, but overall it works well enough as a convincing Federation design.

I might amend the missing "F."
