Target XBox 360 deal

^ I think Rincewiend's point was that it's much cheaper to upgrade the PS3 hard drive then the 360 one.

(i'm being facetious)

Yep, that's probably very true. But the 360 still has a better game library, and that's all I give a shit about.

Same here.

There are four games I'd play on the PS3 and two of them are not even out yet and I can tell you one of them is not MGS4.

At FYE it's $5 cheaper than the Target deal; it had a $30 rebate.

So yeah, I finally got a 360. :D

I got Halo, Mass Effect, Gears War, Bioshock. Halo is great so far, LOVED 1 and 2, and even on split-screen the graphics are amazing. Mass Effect I'm 5 hours into, and it's certainly a worthy KOTR successor, maybe even better since there's live combat in this one, it's like 1/2 Halo 1/2 KOTR. Unfortunately my disc won't load 50% of the time; I can only assume this is b/c its a used game with one teeny pock on it. Also, the frame rate skips constantly as I run around, is that normal?

And is it better to have the console standing or lying down? I have it lying down b/c I'm paranoid about the disc falling out when you eject it.

Mass Effect is a little choppy, especially in certain combat situations when things are blowing up. Most of the time it's pretty steady, or at least not distracting.

KOTOR 1 and 2 were the same.

Having your console vertical gives you the circle of scratch, which can render your game unreadable.

I don't see any point in putting your console vertical considering it blocks off the vents which we all know is a surefire way to induce the RROD.

It takes less space vertical I guess.

As for Mass Effect... I hate to say it, but I'm going to say that BioWare is a pretty janky console developer. Whatever the reason may be, their PC versions always run better.

So how do you know which version console you have? Is it written in an indicia somewhere? Mine has a humongous black power brick separate from the console, do they all have that?

Oh yeah... 48 hours of ownership and I've had my first red ring. :p At first I thought the damn thing burned out my power because the TV snapped off as well, but it turned out I just had a brown out where the power on side of my apartment went out but not the other side (even in the bedroom). And the 360 worked fine after that thank GOD.

I know it's a falcon board because it's a premium 20gb model with an HDMI port, purchased a year* ago.

At least I'm pretty sure that makes it a falcon.

*Um, now that I think about it, 7 months is a pretty loose definition of a year...

Yes, the premium 20gb model with an HDMI port is a Falcon.

BTW Mr. Light, congrats. :techman:

No, that's not true. There are HDMI 360s that have both the 90nm CPU and GPUs. There's a "model finder" out on the Internet that you can check to be sure. I think you want a Team CSON with a Manufacture date of June 2007 or later... but I can't remember.
The replacement 360 I got last winter barely met that "deadline"... and in fact, many of the Arcade packs - which do have HDMI ports - are NOT Falcons.

Oh I'm sure we will see these kinds of deals all over the place.
August 1st will be here before ya know it and they need to make room for the 60gb
