The structure of the console itself is actually similar to the Davies era one, though a bit more angular. Interesting that the rondels are flower pots. And the observation about "bruising" confirms that the designers conceptualize this as a living organism.

The thought that goes into these things are so great and imense. The bruising as the 'coral' grows. Brilliant that they have kept the 'living organism' from RTDs era.

There is something Roald Dahl about the new TARDIS. It's magical, fantastical, and a wonderland in a box, which is how I've always seen it. The new interior really sell the faerie tale aspect of Moffat's view of Doctor Who.
