Tarantino and Abrams to Do Next Trek Movie

A trek movie made by Tarantino + a writer that did only horror movies before the one that made Leo get an oscar for fighting against a bear, and seek revenge against other bad guys (and where the only alive female character is a native american woman who exists to get tortured by rapists).

Yeah, I'm filled with so much excitement and optimism.....

after the rather boring buzz free Beyond cant blame Paramount for turning to Tarantino to get some interest going again. the 50th ann movie should've been an absolute buzzathon of a movie. the biggest Trek movie of all time (something like Dr Who 50th meets the Bring Back Kirk video. Orci was probably on the right track) . instead they quickly cobbled together a quirky homage to TOS/Gold Key meets Guardians type thing, with the Ent destruction (again) to create buzz. so now its time to do something drastic

Boring to you, but not to many critics or moviegoers. And the Shat should stay away from the franchise, as should Stewart.

Quentin Tarantino? I can see it now....

"Spock: What does Captain Wallace look like?
Brett: What?
Spock: What planet you from?
Brett: What?
Spock: What ain't no planet I ever heard of! They have universal translators in What?
Brett: What?
Spock: TRANSLATOR, MOTHERFUCKER! DO-YOU-HAVE-IT?
Brett: Yes!
Spock: Then you know what I'm saying!
Brett: Yes!
Spock: Describe what Captain Wallace looks like!
Brett: What, I-?
Spock: [pointing his phaser] Say what again. SAY WHAT AGAIN. I dare you, I double dare you, motherfucker. Say what one more goddamn time.
Brett: He's b-b-black...
Spock: Go on.
Brett: He's balding...
Spock: Does he look like a bitch?
Brett: Yes.
[Spock shoots Brett in shoulder. Phaser is on high setting]
Spock: DOES HE LOOK LIKE A BITCH?
Brett: No!
Spock: Then why you try to fuck him like a bitch, Brett?
Brett: I didn't.
Spock: Yes you did. Yes you did, Brett. You tried to fuck him. And Captain Wallace don't like to be fucked by anybody, except Mrs. Wallace."

I think one of the reasons Beyond did so bad was not only because the JJ universe sucks, but because of the span in between movies. I mean its 4 years in between Trek films now. I really do not care if they do a Star Trek "4" Kelvin universe movie. Im sort of done with that Trek. They need to concentrate on saving, or better yet replacing, that mess that is Star Trek Discovery.

Is this source reliable?
Where's Paramount's announcement.?
If Tom Hardy was in it I'd like him to play a serious young Picard not some wacko clone
Not that Tom Hardy would ever want to be in another Star Trek movie again.

Tarantino is a TOS fan, should be Kirk n Spock. Not Picard

And I am extremely happy with DSC and Kelvinverse Trek and hope to see much more of each. Does that make me right and you wrong? Of course not. It does, however, point to the futility of “appeasing/listening to the fans” as a strategy.

Tarantino, if this follows through, will very likely avoid the cardinal sin of entertainment—boredom. Beyond that, I’m just looking forward to whatever he creates and I’ll take it on its own terms, as I do with any art, commercial or otherwise.

Yes so it is said but in Tarantino's interview one of his suggestions was a remake of "Yesterdays Enterprise".
He also mentioned COTEOF though.
Maybe his real pitch was something else.

People were saying the Kelvin cast may not be returning and Patrick Stewart says he'd be interested if Tarantino was involved.
So who know whats going on?

I doubt they'll be catering to the fans after seeing what the "fans" have written on forums about "Discovery"? You know the stuff - we'd have GR Rolling in his grave, too many women, I'd rather die than watch "Discovery" etc". Why would they bother? Just cater for the mass :Avengers loving audience.

It could well be coincidence, but I still think it's highly intriguing that both of those stories revolve around "putting right" a timeline that has been altered...:vulcan:

Agreed, doesn't mean he's using 1701D n C. Just loved that story components

Could see a kelvin version where kirk n crew defend say a Romulus outpost from Klingon attack. Same temporal vortex sends kelvin crew to say prime timeline who is war w romulans

Kelvin crew must go back to battle. In dying they solidify a peace w romulus. In 24th century Federation n Spock not delayed stopping super Nova as are allies so Narrada never goes back to 2233 n kelvin verse never happens

Kelvin crew interacts w prime ship not 1701 prime. After they go back to battle n prime timeline resets as it did in Yesterday's E the 1701 w Kirk n crew meet with ship that interacted w kelvin E in and we see Kelvin crew prime counter parts on 1701 in prime

Obviously can nitpick this to death as I am NOT a screen written NOR did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express...... but you get gist

Plenty of those people are already declaring that they won't watch it, notwithstanding that it hasn't even got a first draft of a script yet (though I'm sure some will hate-watch it anyway).

I hope they have no influence whatsoever on any future Trek projects. Leave them behind, and let them plaintively pound out their Facebook comments all they like.

*takes an exasperated breath*
for the 86428753579754 time: they. used. quantum mechanics.

Unless they go backwards even with the science behind this trek, and the most modern time travel theories, if the kelvin crew went back in time they'd just create, thus access to, another alternate reality of their own (like they already did in the comics) but theirs would still happen, just like Tos is still happening after the kelvin timeline was created. There is no reset here. It can't be.
The whole concept doesn't exist because it's parallel realities. They'd just endlessly access to different realities but tos doesn't need to be restored.

And frankly, I'd have definitive proof that the guys at Paramount are insane if they did something like that, and thus decided to deliberately delete their own frigging trek reality preventing anyone in the future to do more with the kelvin timeline. It's suicide. What's the point of taking so much effort establishing another reality to use for stories, movies, possible series, novels, comics, merchandise etc etc..only to suddenly say, 9 years, 3 movies and a bunch of comics and novels later 'haha just kidding! You know what? We delete everything forget about it!'.
This is not an episode where they showed a glimpse of what if scenario, they are invested in this other trek and made people care about this version of the characters, why on earth should they want to eliminate it for its fans and anyone who would want to continue it? What's the point of even making another movie?

That's the worst idea of the history of worst ideas ever.

(Takes deep breathe, laughs his ass off)

First off Merry Christmas Eve, Honestly.

I knew you would reply to my post. I get it you Love you some Uhura. I like Zoe too, she's a very good actress and I appreciate her work

Look I stated in post it was sketched out by me a non writer. Nor am I scientist, and again dud not stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

This different reality was created by JJS team which IMO were some of the laziest skim surface Trek writers I've seen. But will admitt if that's what they created, but once pen hits paper that can all go away. Easily. Not rooting for that, just want a great Trek.

You are EXTREMELY defensive and parochial about Uhura n Kelvin Trek. I just want a good Trek in whatever form AND NO that doesn't mean I want her off screen or sidelined etc etc...... I am excited about QT ST, obviously you are not. As another poster noted QT looked at TWO GREAT ST episodes. That's what he wants to make, a great ST movie. Here's hoping he delivers

That's the beauty of a free society.

A little bit late to the game, but since this thing seems to be actually moving along I'll say that this is the most exciting thing to happen to the franchise EVER.

The bottom line is- it's a bit foolish and myopic to speculate based upon the previous works of Tarentino or the writer that's been suggested.

QT is a TOS fan...and has been for a long time. My guess (and I think it's a FAIRLY reasonable one) is that he'd be out to honor and work within the construct that he has so much respect for.

...Either that or all the wild speculations and gyrations everyone out here has engaged in...but again that seems HIGHLY unlikely.

What does me liking Uhura have anything to do with my debunking your 'reset timeline' theory because it's inconsistent with the science of this trek and its established canon?
Nothing, outside of maybe you having a bit of guilty conscience if you automatically feel the need to justify yourself from having presumed ulterior motives no one accused you of having.

You are the one getting defensive and, I might add, completely wasting your opportunity to counterargument to the actual point (that YOU raised! ) by making a blatant straw man argument instead.
I'm just exasperated by this 'restore the timeline' nonsense (and it is, for the reasons I explained).
I'd think that even if I hated this trek, though liking it surely exacerbates my exasperation with people who want to eliminate it to ostensibly get back to "their trek", I think.
Obvioustly, not liking your idea makes someone defensive and parochial. And clearly, in a board about kelvin trek you are totally supposed to only find people who dislike it and who will be happy to see this reality getting destroyed and with it, all its potential for future stories (and the purpose of this board). Exciting.

Merry Christmas Eve, to you. Btw.
