Sorry for the last-minute notice, but I'll be speaking on the subject of media tie-in novels at the Library of Congress in Washington DC this week. Details below:

"Star Trek, Superman, & Beyond: Exploring the Myriad Worlds of Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Superheroes" by Greg Cox.

Thursday. March 14, 2013.
Noon.
Library of Congress
Pickford Theater, LM-302
Madison Bldg.
101 Independence Avenue SE
Washington, DC 20559

Bummer. I'd definitely have come if it was after work. Can't really miss a day of teaching for it.

Have fun though, that's awesome!

Wish I could make that, but it's a bit of a trip from where I'm at... Sounds like a very interesting chat, plus I'd probably have to try to get an autograph

... Surely a late afternoon happy hour feat. Mr. Cox is called for?! :)

Honestly, I'm not sure how the day is going to play out. I gather there will be some schmoozing and hobnobbing after I speak, and possibly a tour of the Library, but beyond that I'm just playing it by ear . . . .

Well, if you're free after 4pm, I for one'd be honored to share a pint with some fine fellow BBSers... anyone else? :)

Damn, I wish I could go. It sounds like fun, but I live on the other side of the country.

I work at the library, so I plan to attend. Unfortunately, after I'm done, it's off to grab a quick lunch and then back to work.

Hello Mr. Cox: I attended the lecture today. Very informative; it was great to learn about the process of writing novels; thanks! I was the person who held up the copy of To Reign in Hell (I was in the back); unfortunately, I also had to leave before the end because I had to go back to work; so I was not able to introduce myself afterwards. Apologies. Like Caretaker, I work at the Library. All the best, and again congrats; it was very well attended. Chi'pok aka Peter

Greg - I really enjoyed your talk. All the stories and examples were fascinating. And hearing it directly from you, I see how proud you are of your Khan/Eugenics Wars trilogy. Plus I also enjoyed the look at the art of writing novelizations.

I do have one question: You aren't tired of writing movie novelizations after all the (extra) effort you put into dealing with The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel?

Glad you both enjoyed the lecture. I had a great time in DC and enjoyed my tour of the Library after the presentation.

And, Caretaker, that's all part of the adrenaline rush of doing Great Big Movie Tie-Ins! :)
