Tales of Zorro question

I was just watching a re-run of The Mask of Zorro, and after a bit of digging online found out about Tales of Zorro and More Tales of Zorro; a pair of short story anthologies released recently (some of which seemingly set in the same timeline as both the original novel and Isabel Allende's prequel book).

If anyone here was familiar with these books, I was wondering; are all of the short stories specifically about Diego de la Vega (or rather, the Diego from the original novel timeline) or are any about Alejandro Murrieta, or any other incarnations of Zorro?

Indeed, is there a counterpart to Bandieras' character in the novel timeline at all, or is he solely a product of the two movies he features in?

I only learned of this book yesterday also. Might have to check it out sometime...

I haven't read the second book, but I believe all the stories in both anthologies are about the original Zorro, Don Diego. The Antonio Banderas character was strictly a creation of the new movies . . ..

(Full disclosure: I have a story in the first volume.)

I see, thanks.

(Would there be a negative reaction from the novel-verse fanbase if they ever decided to introduce Murrieta, or Elena for that matter? I was thinking that in principle, they could treat them as belonging to a later era; but on the other hand, they would need someone to make sure that the broader timeline remained consistent, which might not be something the IP owners would care to worry about...)
