I can see a scenario where that "reclaiming" involved a lot of stabbing, maybe some poison, and one or two tragic accidents when people brutally and mysteriously cut their own heads off while shaving.
I mean he'd been a Jedi for going on 80 years. Clearly others would have inherited what would otherwise have been his, and historically speaking, aristocrats aren't very quick to give up power and wealth they feel they're entitled to. So there was probably a long line of second cousins, great nieces and nephews standing in his way.
Yeah, as I wrote that I thought of all the intrigue and power play that would likely go along with. The only way it could possibly work semi peacefully is that Dooku was the mos senior in the line of peerage and his reclaiming his title put him at the top of the order. Any enemies he would silence quickly and efficiently.

Ooof, yeah, this is dark.

So the story about Ahsoka's early childhood was apparently originally going to be how Plo Koon found her, but something changed Dave's mind. Which must have been a good suggestion, because Plo Koon is another character Dave loves.

Based on the trailer, it seems the other 2 stories are Ahsoka training at the temple, and then her facing off against an inquisitor. Ashley Eckstein is voicing Ahsoka.

The other 3 stories focus on Dooku, one seems to be him on a mission with young Padawan Qui-Gon, and another with Mace Windu. Not sure what the third is, I think him leaving the order, there's a shot in the trailer of him and Yaddle fighting.

Even in that instance it's hardly going to be so cut and dried. As far as the family is concerned, he's essentially been in a monastery for going on a century. Any privilege or birthright he may have had would be seen to have been long since forsaken in favour of the order of crazy glowstick monks.

History is full of nobles and would-be monarchs waving around bits of paper confidently claiming that this title, or those lands, or that inheritance is rightfully theirs, only for them end up with their head on a spike. Birthright alone is nothing without a powerbase to leverage it into some actual power.

Hell even in this day and age just look at what happens when some old rich billionaire git croaks; it's always a feeding frenzy. Sometimes a very civil and polite feeding frenzy with lawyers and public gestures of reconciliation, but a feeding frenzy nonetheless.

That is a good point. IF they do a story around Dooku it's going to get ugly.

Yeah, even though I'm a little disappointed it's so focused on established characters and the Prequel Era (for now) this show is by far the one that has had my utmost interest. Star Wars is uniquely well suited to anthology based storytelling and this looks like it's at least starting ot take advantage of that.

A rough breakdown: -
  • Padme's funeral? That's an unexpected touchstone. One assumes this will be a Bail story (or a Bail segment of one of the Ahsoka stories.)
  • Shili seems a bit more primitive than I'd expected. From the looks of the Togruta colony we saw in Clone Wars they seemed to have a fairly firm grasp of engineering and artistry to almost rival Naboo. Maybe Ahsoka's tribe is just more traditionalist?
  • Interesting that for both Anakin and Ahsoka, they've revisited and updated the early CW character designs. Anakin's hair seems more suitably shorter considering it's supposed to be only a few months after AotC. Also gone is Ahsoka's frankly inappropriate tube top for a more substantial looking jerkin over more appropriately Jedi under-robes (though inexplicably still with an exposed midriff?)
  • Also getting a serious asset upgrade is the old T-6 Jedi shuttle. I wouldn't be shocked if this is a totally new build from the live action Ahsoka show that the animation people inherited, since it looks WAY more detailed than even the 'live-actionified' version of the CW asset they used in tRoS. Good. I've always liked this design!
  • Looks like the Ahsoka Training story will be a kind of montage over time since we're seeing the same lesson in different places, at different times through the entire course of the war (presumably culminating is some of the Order 66 stuff from the finale.)
  • Not sure what to make of the Dooku material yet beyond the obvious. I'll have to wait see how they approach it before I can form a real opinion.
  • Obi-Wan still has the mullet? Not that it matters at all, but I guess this constitutes a visual retcon of early Clone Wars? (The movie, at the very least.)
  • Who died?
  • Those are some very unique and distinctive Jedi characters. I don't recognise them as any established characters, so they're either new (possibly from some other project we're not aware of yet) and have a significant role in this story, or the animation people have gotten way more lavish with their crowd filler character budgets.
  • Not sure what's going on with this new Inquisitor. My first assumption was that we're getting a partial adaptation of the Ahsoka novel since it has a similar confrontation, but that's clearly not Sixth Brother, and the person on their knees can't be either of the Larte girls from that book. Seems a little weird on the face of it to hew so close and yet so far. One assumes it'll make sense in context.
  • Wait, did Dooku kill Yaddle?! They seem to be fighting in Sidious's secret hideout in The Works, so this my be the very moment he turned.

The Ahsoka version was on display at Celebration.

Master Dooku and Padawan Qui-Gon is everything I wanted. Can't wait to see how that goes.

I don't mind that this seems to be leaning heavily on established characters. It makes sense for the first season. I imagine we'll see the cast expand gradually over time, both with future Jedi characters and probably some will be original to TOTJ.

Had another closer look at the trailer, and I just now realised that the shot of Ahsoka hiding in a crowd, it's not just any old crowd; it's the crowd lining Padme's funeral precession. That's certainly a twist. Makes sense though that the first place she'd seek sanctuary and attempt to reconnect with Anakin after fleeing is with Padme on Naboo (especially if she got Obi-Wan's warning about the Temple.) That shot of her walking alone down a stone pillared walkway is also probably Naboo.

This looks really good. Definitely looking forward to the Dooku and Qui-Gon episode since we haven't really seen a lot of their time together.
Do we know yet how long the episode will be? They say shorts, but the length of shorts has pretty a wide range, the Forces of Destiny shorts are 3-5 minutes, and the Visions shorts are 15-24 minutes.

IMDB says each episode will be 15 minutes. Don't know if that can be considered accurate, though.
Probably not. IMDB is just a slightly less inclusive wikipedia. Anyone with a membership can edit, as such it's not exactly a reliable source of information on upcoming releases.

That said, 15mins on average sounds about right.
