Tal Celes in Fanfiction

I've done some checking on Tal Celes in fanfiction out of curiousity and notice that there's an awful lot of femslash fics (especially on fanfiction.net) regarding this character (search results here and here). Warning, links go to some fics that contain femslash in them.

I wonder why it is so popular to portray Celes as a lesbian on fanfiction.net and even in a number of other sites?

Personally I like the Celes portrayals in the Lower Decks archive, it's a well balanced portrayal, and has many different viewpoints.

I agree, she is definitely attractive, but I wonder why there weren't more heterosexual pairings in fanfiction involving Celes. Why all the femmslash fuss? I've personally got no problem with it, but was there some sort of 'vibe' she gave off that made her perfect for femmslash fics?
