Taking another stab at the Excelsior...

I think I've finally cracked it!

I've been posting designs here of various quality over the last 5 years, and I think I've generally improved on the quality of my drawings. But though I've been rather satisfied by my alternate versions of the 1701, 1701-A, 1701-C, 1701-D and other designs, one ship that has consistently eluded me is the Excelsior. I tried three different designs so far and all three have been disappointing. The shape of the engineering section is really giving me issues.

However I think I've now got it right. Here it is.

Excelsior seems to be a hard frame to take on. While I think this looks ok, and similar enough in proportions to be recognizable, it still has some good updates that make it more palatable. And, of course, I appreciate the deck layout.

An addition, just for fun. Only four Concordia-class ships were built. The Gibraltar and the Basilisk were the latter two, so they have changes and improvements over the first two ships, the Concordia and the Augustus. Here's what the earlier model would look like.

Better and better.

The nacelles of the top design say "shuttle" or working ship of a smaller size.

The very long nacelle says "32 Century" and doesn't fit the Excelsior hull.

The bottom two are great.
