Take Me Out to The Holosuite

Spike TV just re-ran this episode last night. Watching it I couldn't help but think that the actors must hav been falling all over themselvs laughing fiiling ghis ep. Odo being an umpire, Rom can't catch to save his life, Quark catching glasses in the bar. Are there any good stories out there about this episode? Anybody talk about it in conventions/books/interviews?

I would love to hear them.

Yeah, I like that episode, too. The companion has a story about how Rom is supposed to be a bad baseball player, although in real life Max Grodénchik is a serious player! He even played left-handed to make it easier for him to look bad. Armin Shimerman and Aron Eisenberg are also quite good, which is funny because in the episode all Ferengi are supposed to be the worst players when in fact they were the best.

Screw what the actors think. I loved this episode, and I'm not even a baseball (or sports of any kind) fan.

I DVR'd this episode last night. I usually skip over it but re-watching it this time really changed my opinion of it. It was really funny and quite enjoyable. And I love how the Vulcan Captain can barely contain his arrogance and smugness. Good episode:bolian:

I thought Odo stole the episode in his scenes; practicing making calls in his office; ejecting Sisko from the game. The game banter. "What were you doing, regenerating?" Odo replies with a nonchalant, "Caught the corner." Classic stuff. "Yer gone!" Everyone did a great job. It worked well in the series context. Yeah this is a good episode with spirit.

I really adore this episode. DS9 really nailed the ensemble cast format better than not only any of the other Star Treks but many other TV shows as well*, and this episode perfectly encapsulates this. My only minor gripe is a gripe that I share with all the modern Trek series, concerning how bland and snobby the Vulcans were once again depicted. I especially disliked how all the Vulcan teamates were essentially boring clones of each other, the same dark hair shortly cut hair, same dull faces, etc. It wouldn't have hurt them to show a little diversity within the Vulcan team, different hair colors, complexion, etc. and given them a dash of personality other than arrogance? Ah well, I can easily forgive though because this is such a fun episode with some really great moment.

*I don't count TOS or other shows that were never intended to be ensemble shows in the first place of course.

Fantastic ep (of course, 98% of the DS9 eps are ...). I thought that Vulcans would have made really good ENT Vulcans... and yeah, you're right Tralah -- IDIC right, but they all looked and acted pretty much the same...

I happened to watch this episode twice in one day :D I have been rewatching season seven and watched it not knowing it was on TV again that night. Not that I'm complaining. Sometimes you need a good break between all the Dominion War - possible extinction storylines.

This episode has the best line from the entire series for me (albeit only in context)...

"Find him and KILL him!" - Worf

"Find him and KILL him!" - Worf
Worf: "Death to the opposition!"

Bashir: "They just chewed it?"
O'Brien: "No. They infused the gum with flavor."
Bashir: "What did you infuse it with?"
O'Brien: "Scotch."

I thought DS9's final season had some of the most fun episodes of the seires, and this one's the tops! I love baseball, and this one had... Well, it had heart!

^ This is one of the reasons Season 7 is one of my favorites of the entire series. It had some of the most fun and enjoyable episodes of the series.

This is a great episode...Totally agree

Yeah, I got a real kick out of seeing some of the old sayings and practices updated with DS9 era culture, it was really cool to see and hear. Plus you've got to love a good story about having heart.

Out of all the light-weight episodes in the series seven year run this was the most fun to watch. It does amaze me that with Sisko's obsession with baseball going back to the pilot that this was the first time we really got to see him play baseball in the holosuite.

I agree that this was a really good use of this ensemble cast and really good guest cast to boot. I also think given this was the last season and they had alot of story to wrap up this episode came at the right time.

This has to be in my top 3 favorite episodes of Deep Space Nine. Truly a classic episode, and one that still endears me to the series.

I really laugh when Sisko tells toOdo, "Yo where regenereting!?" when he called a strike instead of a ball.
