Taika Waititi to write and direct Thor 4

I think it's contained well enough to a few directors/characters - mainly Taika Waitit and James Gunn.

I love Gunn's style, adore the Guardians movies and really liked his Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. With Waitit i just don't know, especially when it comes to Thor. The Thor movies were always the weakest for me in the MCU, both because their stories were not that really interesting and because the character and his stories/mythology have potential for so much epicness yet the movies never really took advantage of that.
When Waititi did Thor 3 he turned it into a silly comedy movie and the character into a buffon as well - it killed the character for me. I have few hopes that such an awesome storyline such as Gorr the God Butcher will make the difference, it simply is not Waititi's style but i'll be happy to eat my words. If the Russo Brothers would have made that Thor movie i would expect my mind to be blown, here i hope it will be.
The thing is he didn't just make any Thor story a silly comedy, he made the absolute darkest Thor story a silly comedy...

Are you absolutely sure of that beyond any doubt?
Beyond basic logic, no, of course not. If only because I haven't found any casting news of who that actress could be.

However, it makes much more sense that woman is not Jane than actually being her.

The hair, her appearance in the trailer (i.e. the stinger is deliberately presented as "And (re)introducing Natalie Portman...as THOR!" so an earlier appearance doesn't make narrative sense), the fact that the woman Thor kisses doesn't even look like Portman.

That said, I'm willing to admit I'm wrong if that turns out to be the case.

Will you in the reverse situation?

The woman who he spins around at kisses at 0:46 mark is definitely not Natalie Portman, unless for some reason they recast her and have Natalie Portman just playing The Mighty Thor, it's probably not Jane.
It's a little hard to tell with the makeup, but she looks Asian to me.

^ The person in question looks very much like Natalie Portman - or her doppelganger Kiera Knightley - to me.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but we'll see.

You really won't need to see it if you don't want to, though. Guardians met Thor. They fought Thanos. Star lord is insecure about how everyone loves Thor. Thor hitches a ride off earth with them after the battle is over. That's really all you could possibly need to know.

Also Gamora's status might come up.

but that juxtaposition is probably one of the reasons the movie works so well.

I don't know. I really like Ragnarok, but the humour DOES - at least for me - rather undercut the emotional reaction of Thor loosing Odin, the Warriors Three, his hammer, his eye and his kingdom all at once. Plus having just broken up with Jane, then finding out Odin lied to him about Asgard's past and his unknown evil sister, been kidnapped and forced into slavery and to fight a friend in a blood sport...

For those wondering how Jane gets the powers here's the text from the description that goes with a replica helmet from Eaglemoss.

Suffering from cancer, astrophysicist and Thor’s ex-girlfriend, Jane Foster, visited New Asgard and her life was changed forever. Mysteriously, the broken pieces of Mjolnir, the hammer of the thunder god, transformed her into the Mighty Thor and gifted her the superpowers of Thor, to battle threats internal and external. Wielding Mjolnir herself, she had become a godly protector and a new hero was born!

Well that's just dropping what could a be a major spoiler for those unaware of the comics. And let's face it, most MCU viewers aren't aware. I'm hardly aware.

Also, @StCoop , not saying YOU'RE the one spoilering here. You did everything correct according to the forumrules. I;m talking about Eaglemoss here. Unless Marvel themselves are revealing that soon.

And for those saying well duh it's in the comics.... MCU has done things a lot different from the comics before, and honestly, worldwide, it's really only a small percentage of the movie watchers that follow the comics religiously.

I think we've made it beyond that kind of stereotype for comics, we've gotten enough serious comic book movies that by now most people should know they aren't all jokes.
And I love that we've reached a point where we can have comic book movies like The Batman, and Love & Thunder coming out just a few months apart.
I agree. Too many people want to pigeonhole Superhero movies into one little box. The last twenty years have proven that there are plenty of different ways to tell these stories.
