Symphony of Science

I think someone mentioned that site, or at least the first video, somewhere else on the TrekBBS - can't remember who it was. Probably because of minor cultural differences, the likes of Sagan and Feynman never had quite the impact on me as, say, Patrick Moore or David Attenborough or Johnny Ball [or Fred Harris ;) - someone] but still, it's an interesting project.

That audio effect really jumped the shark years ago. I dread it every time I hear it used.
It never did Daft Punk or GLaDOS any harm. ;)

This reminds me of listening to music generated by cellular automata. Cellular automata can represent many physical and mathematical systems (some would argue all) --- famously, partial differential equations --- and there are algorithms whereby you can map the discrete cells of a cellular automaton onto a "staff," as it were.

Some of the music is simply horrid. But with the right filters, it can be extremely intriguing.
