Enterprise is Great

Syfy has ordered a pilot for a Tremors series, with Bacon reprising his role as Valentine McKee and also serving as an executive producer. The series will be a sequel, taking place 25 years after the 1990 cult hit about an invasion of killer worms (aka “Graboids”) that wreak havoc on an unsuspecting Nevada desert town. The worms are back, and it’s up to an aged, alcoholic Valentine McKee to once again save humanity.

Hopefully it's more like the first film and not the short lived series. I made it through one episode and then bailed on it.

But wasn't the series starring one of the other stars of the movie? Or a bootleg version.

Man....did things REALLY go sour after The Following ended???

The series had the only star that was in every incarnation of Tremors: Burt Gummer, played by Michael Gross. They went so far as to recast Nancy and Mindy Sterngood, as Ariana Richards wasn't interested in acting anymore. The late Marcia Strassman was cast as Nancy, and she was in the run of the show.

If they could get Fred Ward to show up, and I don't see why Michael Gross would say no at this point, that would be a pretty fun core.

I liked the Tremors TV series. I'll give this a shot if it looks good.

Sounds good to me. I also want Fred Ward Micheal Gross back. I think it's even kind of important to get Ward back because the friendship between him and Bacon's character is one of the main reasons the movie is so popular.
I'm not sure if I want any of creature evoultions back that we saw in the other movies and the tv show. Granted they are also going to have to come up with a excuse why nobody just leaves and never comes back once the graboids show up again.

They really would need to get Micheal Gross back, at this point I just can't see Tremors without Burt Gummer, even if it's just a one off guest spot in the pilot.

I wonder if they'll use any of the other movies and the show, or just ignore everything but the first movie?

In this version of the announcement on CNN, an extra line here speaks of a "trend":
Syfy's attempt to revive the brand is in keeping with a trend that has seen networks try to give genre film properties second life on television.
Gives me additional hope for a Firefly return. Of course, it started off as a series before becoming a feature film, but still...lots of potential in that one.

I'll watch Tremors, too. The original movie was always a guilty favorite of mine.

This. It just isn't Tremors without Burt Gummer. He was in Tremors 5: Bloodlines which came out in 2015.

The original movie was freaking awesome. No need to feel guilty about it.

quote from Kevin Bacon:
This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting.
Really? Because there have been like a gajillion sequels/prequels to Tremors that you could have been in.

And yes, the interplay between Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon is a large part of what made the original so fun. Even if they can't get him back, they need to find a good foil for Bacon's character.
