SyFy Christmas Specials--Eureka, Warehouse 13, and Haven

Well, I only saw the Eureka episode, but I thought a megathread for all three episodes would work well.

I loved this episode! It was great to see Dr. Drummer again and EJO as "Rudy" was great. I didn't catch that Jim Parsons was Carl, but I knew the voice was familiar. It was great to see Carl express his frustrations, his pretty understandable frustrations!

I guess I'm a sucker for episodes that play with genres and formats, like last year's Community Christmas episode. This one took it to another level with 3D animation, cartoon, claymation, and, of course, anime. I loved seeing Fargo get so excited about his stick at the end!

I keep saying how Eureka is a show that I can just watch and be happier after each episode. This was no exception and I'm one who can't stand the super sugary/moral driven/"Christmas is special because..." type of episodes. However, this one was great!

I thought the Warehouse 13 episode was solid and Haven managed to reference King's Under the Dome while tying it into Xmas.

They put so much work into that Eureka episode, the other xmas specials look positively lazy by comparison. Superb, really.

Eureka was definitely the best. I loved the Claymation and traditional animation, as well as the nods to Peanuts, South Park et al. I really loved Claymation Andy. :rommie: It was kind of weird that there was no sign of Zane, though. Warehouse 13 was also very good, despite some awkward plotting. I can't see Mrs Frederick trusting MacPherson or leaving Artie in prison for three years; although I suppose that can be hand-waved away by saying that the artifact rebuilds reality based on the victim's subconscious fears. Haven was also decent, and I got a kick out of how they built the plot around having to film their Christmas episode in the Summer. :D The guy who played Duke seemed to be having an especially good time, and there were nice, subtle touches like the lost and bewildered Vincent when his brother disappeared. All in all, a good night. :bolian:

Not having Zane was a little odd, but seeing as how the Eureka Christmas specials don't seem to be in continuity (as several things in the episode disagreed with the season finale), I can live with it.

It's cool how they handle that by having someone tell the story-- last year it was Carter and this year it was Sarah-- so they don't really have to worry about the continuity. Maybe Sarah doesn't like Zane, so she just left him out. :rommie:

Definitely loved the anime portion of Eureka!

And did anyone else catch the "November 5th, 1955" reference in Haven? I was only half-watching that one, so I'm not entirely sure about the reason behind that date.

I found the Eureka one a bit cringe-worthy, although the anime part was pretty darn funny. I liked the Warehouse 13 one, although, again, the continuity was off, but it's a "bottle" episode, so that's OK.

A nod to Back To The Future?

Eureka drove my cheez-o-meter nuts like nothing else, but I enjoyed the animated segments.

For whatever reason, I enjoyed the Warehouse 13 one a lot more, even if it was cheaper looking and riddled with plot holes and convenient stuff.
