Sybok, Burnham, and Spock (Don't worry, not another canon thread)

I haven't seen the show, so I can't really say how "stupid" it is or if it adds anything to her character and the plot or not.

What could it possibly add. Spock isn't going to be in the series. You have an excuse to add Sarek but Why? Why not add another Vulcan character. You can still have Sarek as a mentor like character. The whole Vulcans made her stronger/traumatize her angle doesn't need Sarek. It's name dropping for the sake of name dropping. Anyway you look at it ANY Vulcan would do.

Hard to say, without actually seeing the show.

And you see, that's the thing. I could reel off a half dozen things about what I've seen of this show so far that I don't care for. But that doesn't mean a whole lot without seeing the actual show. TOS and TNG are my favorite Trek series, and I could go on for hours on things about those two shows I don't like, but it doesn't keep me from being a huge fan.

GOT and The Americans are IMO the best two shows on TV right now, and they both do things which irritate me, which also doesn't keep me from being a huge fan.

It's Star Trek, and we'll all watch the "free" premier, and then all hell breaks lose in this forum. :guffaw:
