Sy-Fy seeks new space opera

True. SG never struck me as so much as a sci-fi show as a new take on all those whole military style shows from the 60s and 70s that just had a sci-fi bits too it.I guess Stargate Universe doesn't qualify as a space opera then?
Anything involving Stargate would have to be more like Space Adult Contemporary.
Why the heck hasn't anyone done this yet anyway?

The should pick up REAPER, but change into the premise so that the guys are on a space ship hunting alien escapees from hell.

It's still a science fiction franchise and it's not afraid to call itself that, unlike a host of other shows.
