Sword of Damocles available on Amazon

I didn't care for any of the first three Titan books (though Taking Wing had very good - mostly Vale - moments), but I'll keep an eye out for this since it's Mr. Thorne's work. (I'm hopeful.) :)

Wow.

you guys are so...

I promised myself I wouldn't cry.

Seriously. I SHOULD be nervous. Remember, I was all cocky a few months ago, so it's fine. I deserve the butterflies.

I just want to not let down Christopher, Andy and Michael (and Marco. God Bless poor Marco). I actually really love what they did with the first three books. And Sean too. His design is AWESOME.

So, yeah, nerves. But in a good way, I guess.

I hope you guys dig it.

From everthing I've read, it sounds like the book will be great. So I really don't think you have anything to worry about, Geoff.

Just out of curiosity how much of an impact do the other books have on this one? I'm trying to decide if I want to hold off until I reread the other three, or if I want to just jump right back into the series.

I'm proud of it, don't get me wrong. I always worry that what pleases me won't necessarily please everyone. I am very happy with the book. I just hope all of you are equally so.

While I further some plot lines from the earlier works, expanding on several relationships, the vast majority of the book works as a stand-alone. Some people will certainly be upset that a favorite character doesn't get the focus here and there but, on the whole, I think most of the regulars got some face time.

One thing I've been having trouble figuring out is who exactly the regulars would be.
Riker
Troi
Vale?
Ree?
Tuvok?
?
That about as far as I can get though. It's just that there are so many different characters that I'm not sure which would be considered secondary and which would be considered main characters.

^^That's because there is no divide between "main" and "secondary" characters in Titan. TV shows need "regular" casts of a limited size because regulars get paid the most, so too large a regular cast would get too expensive. Hence, you have a core cast that's under contract to appear weekly and a second-tier cast that's hired for only a certain number of episodes and gets paid less. But in books, there are no actors to be paid, so there's no need to draw that kind of artificial distinction between cast members. The "main" characters of each book are the ones the author chooses to focus on.

I just got my copy today! It was waiting for me when I got home from work. I really look forward to discovering new writing talent in the Trekverse. I've been really pleased with the works I've read over the last few years from KRAD, David Mack, Christopher Bennett and so many others. I'm sure Mr. Thorne's work will be equally rewarding! Thanks guys!

I ordered it from Amazon today. I'll let you know what I think when I finish.

My copy just arrived at home courtesy of Amazon.com.

If I didn't have somewhere to be after work (and near work), I'd be tearing away. But alas, patience... patience... :vulcan:

^Wow, I am so jealous. I hope my local Borders or B&N gets it soon.

It involved a bit of luck, I suppose. When I went to check out, Amazon offered me a free 30 day trial of their "Prime" 2-day shipping service. I took it. The book shipped 23 hours ago and left one state over from where I live, so the 2-day UPS air turned into next day service. I'm not complaining.

I picked up my copy at Smithbooks on my way home and started reading right away. I've been waiting a long time for this one! :)

I went to 2 different local bookstores, neither of which had it, and told them that Amazon was shipping it. I gave them the ISBN # from Amazon, and they special ordered it, so I might get special order copy before either store even gets their regular shipment! (For some reason, the stores my neck of the woods seems to usually get their Trek books after every one else in here is already talking about it. :()

Uhm... sorry? :alienblush: :o

I just got home, and before eating dinner, I had to open the package. The book looks beautiful, the fold-out is great, and I can't wait to read it.

Stupid human nutritional needs! :rommie:

I made a quick stop at Borders last night while running errands, but no such luck. I may just order it from Amazon.

I'm still waiting for my shipment from Marco. I am supposed to get my copy of the book and some printers proofs of the
fold out.
