Sword of Damocles Already Released ?

As is often the case (apparently) the Amazon synopsis is close but not exactly right. Prolly a place holder from an early pitch document.

What can I say about SoD?

New planet. Several new species. MASSIVE casualties (though, I suspect, not in Mr. Mack's class yet). Significant permanent* character changes. Pava sees a little action (no, not that kind, pervs). Some new tech (based on TOS/TNG/real world tech). Lots of Vale. Lots of Troi. Lots of Jaza. Lots of Ra-Havreii. Alien poetry. Titan takes a pounding.

Incredibly nervous writer.


* until the next writer does something to change them

So what exactly does the title refer to? There's no allusions to Greek mythology is there?

Wow, like I wasn't excited for this enough all ready. O and yay lots of Vale. She's probably one of my favorite book characters so that has me very happy.

okay, that was an instance of me forgetting one of the myriad aliens on Titan. but IIRC, she was a throwaway cameo in TRK. not surprising.

Hmmm, interesting. I'm deffinitely curious to see how that relates to the story. I knew the Damocles Sword myth had something to do with a sword hanging over Damocles head, but I wasn't sure what the exact story and message were.

Well, I'm assuming he's asking exactly how that story relates to the plot points and decisions to be made in the book. To answer that would involve spoilers, which the author is clearly not going to do, so in fact it does remain a stupid question on that basis.

At no time do Damocles, Zeus or the aforementioned sword appear in the book. Nor do any beings or machines who believe themselves to be Zeus, Damocles or the sword.

But there are long pointy things with very sharp edges displayed from time to time.
