As a Swede I can definitely say that it's not primarily used to prevent people from using noble names - nowadays it's mostly there to protect the kids. It's an old law that might need some revising but I think the basic idea (to prevent names that might get the kids bullied, names that are abbreviations or naming the kids after train stations and such) is valid.Wait, they have the law in the first place to prevent commoners from using 'noble' names? What the fuck. There's a country in need of a fucking revolution.
Could be actual legal problems with a one letter name actually now to come think about it.
What kind of parents would want to name their child Q?
Pretty stupid ruling IMO.
Of course if an American judge ruled the names Mackenzie and Piper illegal I would send him a fucking fruit basket!
