Survivor: Samoa

It really was. Shock (Laura) mixed with horror (Kelly) mixed with a touch of admiration I'd say (Dave).

Other great part of tonight was the opening with Natalie killing the rat. She freaks out when she sees it, then grabs a giant stick and smashes it, then immediately apologises and scoops it into a coconut. She's adorable - I'd actually love to see her in the finals. My respect for her is still growing every week.

The preview for next week looks hilarious. The remainder of Galu just stalking Russell every where he goes to find the new hidden immunity idol

That does look hilarious. It looks like they might get into a rumble outside of a challenge.

By the way, Russell totally made up for his use of the idol last week. I loved seeing Erik's reactions from the jury.

Next week could be a draw at TC. While Galu officially has the advantage 6-4, Shambo has aligned with Foa Foa making it actually 5-5.

if so, foa foa should target the weakest fire builder that Galu has. Then Russell should be a professional pyromaniac.

Wow.

I doubted Russell last week, but this was pure genius. I'm super impressed again.

Now it's 5:5...

I was hoping for something totally off the wall to happen, just for entertainment value, like Russell starts believing that Natalie's going based on what he overheard, gives his immunity idol to her, and ends up getting voted out himself instead.

Imo it couldn't have been better the way it went down. Well, it could have been Laura to leave, or Monica, but apart from that. :)

If Monica leaves, I'll be very upset.

Listening to Natalie's running internal monologue as he stalked and killed that rat was hilarious.

and wow I thought Russel blew it last week, but he completely made up for it this week even though I think his ego cost him the immunity challenge. He snagged the bag and then puffed his chest out looked left and right like "uh-huh i got it" and slowly started bringing it in then Laura got one and quickly pulled it and Russel lost his pulling too fast.

But wow he really played the immunity idol perfect. Next week should be an interesting episode and the only way Russel is going home next episode is if someone from Galu finds the idol. There's no way they're gonna risk voting Russel and having a repeat of this week unless they have the idol on their side.

The reactions at tribal council were just awesome. Erik was cheering it on from the jury, lol.

One of the funniest lines:

"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out." - John, a rocket scientist.

Just when I was starting to loose interest in the show, it sucks me back in.
Has to be one of the best TC's I've seen in a while. The looks when Russel played the second idol was great.

Someone mentioned they brought Russel back for another one after this one right?

Yeah, IIRC he's in next season which is another "All Stars" -also Probst's last contracted season.

Seriously, that play Russell was brilliant, I mean Richard Hatch is looking at Russell and saying, "Damn!" and not in a dirty way, either.

Did that one start filming before this one aired, or will the other "all stars" know about his style of play before hand?

 indeed. And I love the way his former tribe mates are all in awe and in tight with him, no clue about his comments about them behind their backs. I mean, they played out his plan to perfection after the merger, Natalie did it the best though. I think that there was too many people around for them to communicate each individuals plans and it caused Russ to get flustered that first merged TC, but they are back on their game right now.

I think next season's filming started right after this one finished filming, or at least not long after. So no one next season will have the benifit of watching this season to know how Russell plays.

Yeah, that's what I've gathered too. Plus, apparently Russell is the only one from this season to appear in the next one, so the others there literally don't know anything about him except that he's a "villain", which should be a huge advantage for Russell.

I did laugh at how when Russell found the new idol he said this time he was keeping his mouth shut about it. Then he immediately told Shambo and others...

Yeah, that was funny, but he was correct in telling Shambo and the others this time imo. The Foa Foas had to know to make the plan work and telling Shambo was necessary to secure her loyalty for next week.

Yeah, him telling his team-mates worked for setting up the plan, and Shambo must've voted in line with her team to keep up appearances.

From next week's preview, looks like Foa Foa is not going to let Russel out of their sights, chasing him even. If Russel is smart he'll get his crew to search while Foa Foa is centered on him.

This was one of only 3 times, I think, that the immunity idol was used correctly. Awesome

Great episode. I loved the reactions- I don't think I've ever seen so many "wows" mouthed at one tribal council. And Erik's reaction was fun to watch. He really is bitter towards his former tribemates. Next week's episode looks like it'll be a good one.
