Survivor: Samoa

Aww, too bad, Ben was great for the dynamics of the tribe - I'm completely with EvilRussel on that: conflict is great! ;)

But he is really an asshole, and not in a "fun tv" kind of way but in a "makes me uncomfortable and hope someone punches him in the face" way

eta.: btw, it's not an act, he's really an asshole

Does anybody else find this season's "survivor family moment" depressing? They always show it right after tribal council, and they always show the family of the person who just got voted off the show. "We know you'll do well!"--family of the person who just lost

So far this whole season has been depressing. There is no one of interest, even evil russell is just all talk.

I'm enjoying this season, it always takes a while to really get into the characters.

Guess they don't show that family moment up in Canada, at least I've never seen it.

Glad that Yaz is gone, I wouldn't have wanted to live at camp with her.

I'm glad that Yasmin is gone, she was annoying in many ways. I enjoy conflict on the show, but not the kind that she creates. I'm surprised that Shambo wasn't more of a consideration tonight, it was mostly just Yasmin and Monica. Though, Shambo was the only one (besides Yasmin) to vote for Monica, which shows just how out of the loop she is in her tribe.

I wonder when the merge will be this season. I'd almost rather it be earlier than usual, and have a big group of people playing individually. I think that someone like Shambo or Russell would really excel in a situation like that.

What is up with Jaison's attitude? He seems so unhappy and defeated. He really shouldn't...he was able to get who he wanted out last week and he hasn't been thrown around as a possibility for going home yet so he should be feeling great right now. Now that his tribe was able to win a challenge hopefully he won't be so down.

The next person voted of Survivor: Samoa is...

ASHLEY!

The arugments seemed to suggest they did it because she was mostly useless, her losing the Reward Challenge for them probably didn't help.

Tonight's Reward Challenge was the requisite "eat gross food made into a shake" challenge, Immunity was a strength-endurance challenge.

Good Russell sent Shambo over to the other tribe following Reward as her penance for losing the chicken last "week." Seems... fair, I guess. Shambo bonded more with the other tribe.

The teams also suffered through a cold and rainy couple of days, I bet they regret those blankets now! HA! Russell! And G.Russell and... some other guy fight over Russell not making a fire to cook their Reward food. Other Guy tells Russell he can make the fire but won't unless Russell asks. Way to stand on principle there, Other Guy.

Interesting episode all-and-all.

OH!

And, Show? I don't appreciate it when you blur our some girl's butt slightly hanging out of her bikini bottoms but I do get to see Russell's dangling jewels inside his boxer-briefs.

Thanks.

So who is next weeks medical emergency? I'm betting good Russell - someone on the purple team apparently and from what I could see of the victim, it looked like they were dark skined. I saw Jaison so that leaves Russell.

I didn't see bad Russel in the background of any of the shots of them rendering aid to the stricken person, I thought it was him. I'm going to have to find the preview and watch it again.

Liz may have been saved by the rain- had EvilRussell had the chance, I think he would have talked the tribe into getting rid of her. Probably best that they got rid of Ashley, though.

I'm starting to wonder about OtherRussell. He's not as manipulaive as EvilRussell, but he does seem to relish his power a bit too much. Might come back to bite him in the future.

Still don't have any sense of who most of the people on the winning tribe are. With so much focus on the yellow tribe, there isn't much screen time for the others.

I think Ashley was neither as dumb, nor as loyal to Russell as it looked like on screen. And I think Russell knew that, and that's why she got voted out. Yes, Liz challenged him, which was a stupid thing to do, but I'm pretty sure Russell was behind voting out Ashley.

Anyway, I'm concerned about Russell. He's clearly the smartest player in the game (definitely this season, maybe of all time), but I don't know if he can overcome the numerical disadvantage after the merge - even though the other tribe doesn't seem to be very close. I really, really, really want him to win this.

I think there's a good chance it's him getting hurt next week...

I think it's a good season overall so far, even without Russell, but he's definitely the icing on the cake. ;)

Btw. if you like Russell you'll be happy to hear that: (very mild spoiler)
he's also a player in season 20, "heroes vs villains" which has already been filmed too

^
What's really interesting about that is that the others playing in season 20 will not have ever seen Russell's style of gameplay, so he has a great chance of using the same type of manipulation without it being too obvious to everyone else.

Looking closely at the preview most people can be ruled out from the injured. It looks like the only real possibilities are Brett, John, Shambo, and both Russells. And since it looks like a purple team member, that rules out evil Russell. Brett and John are fit enough so it's probably Shambo or Russell.

I hate Evil Russel.

I hate people like him.

I do not understand people who *do* like him.

It sounds to me like a rather serious character flaw.

I want someone to win the game by playing it straight -- proving it can be done. Liars, cheaters, sleazy bastiges... I want them to go down. Hard. Painfully.

It's good Russell.. CBS is now showing a promo that clearly shows him going down.

He falls forward while blindfolded and catches the wooden corner of a puzzle board directly under the chin driving it into his throat. It was a nasty looking hit that could have crushed a windpipe.

Survivor is a game and I like people who are good at playing the game instead of just sitting there looking pretty. People who "played it straight" on Survivor either get voted out early or are lucky enough to be buddies with someone who does the dirty work for them and basically just cruised along.

So yes, I really like Russell, just as I liked Rob C, Boston Rob, Richard Hatch, etc., because they put their ass on the line playing the game.

It's like in poker - who's more impressive, the guy who gets pocket aces all the time or the guy who only gets shitty cards but still manages to get a big stack?

Apparently, Ashley was as clueless as she appeared. The St. Paul Pioneer Press published an interview with Ashley a few days ago (she's from MN). She said she believed everything EvilRussell had told her and that until the episodes aired, she had no idea he was manipulating everybody.
