Survivor: Island of the Idols

It’s hard to say based on how it was shot. Was she making enough noise that it was obvious she was injured? She said pretty loudly she cut herself, as the way she was hunched on the ground was not that far from her. If it wasn’t obvious she was in pain, it should have seemed something might be wrong.

It’s kind of funny how Tom said “This is nothing, this is a show”. When in fact HE WAS THE ONE BEING SAVED.

Given how suspicious they are when someone is not in camp - because they must obviously be looking for idols, right? - I think it's not unreasonable of her to think they were deliberately ignoring her.

They thought she'd gone to medical like she said she was going to, and she wasn't making enough noise or doing enough to get their attention.

And nobody on Lairo has expressed the whole "if you're gone from camp you're looking for Idols" suspicion; that was the Vokai tribe, and they were actually right to be suspicious of Jason because he flat-out said - directly into the camera - that he was looking for an Idol.

Ugh the whole banishment to the island of the has-beens took up way too much screen time

This season should have been called "Island of the Idiots". It's like they purposely went out to find the dumbest contestants ever.

How many have now lost their votes, or been voted out with idols unplayed?

I don’t think they’re dumber on average. Vince was dumb. But the show is setting them up to make them look dumber.

I just started watching so don't know what happened yet.

But it is cringingly blatant that they instructed the players to act super-stoked on Applebees. I mean, sure, when you haven't had a good meal in two weeks, yeah, I'd be excited about Applebees, but not THAT excited about SPECIFICALLY Applebees. God damn.

Yeah the applebees thing was over the top. Maybe that was why they didn't have time for idol island? Lol

Have we ever had a situation like with Kelly and dean and the old girlfriend's friend? That was weird.

I was glad Karishma didn't go home. It seems to me like she is just being bullied. Underperforming in challenges just doesn't rate that kind of hatred.

I'm also over the level of outrage contestant are having over being left out of a blindside. It's a red flag that you aren't playing a good game when that happens not an invitation to attack everyone. I hope it's the producers getting people to talk that up

Yep, after giving it a chance I have come to the conclusion that I dislike the presence of Sandra and Rob (who are two of my all-time favorites)

Previous contestants only work when it's a full 18-20 of them competing, no other format works for me

The contestants this season aren't really up to the usual standard I'd expect from Survivor. So far it's just a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty ok season

How about the older guy that looks like Harvey Weinstein. Creeps me the fuck out

At this point I can't think of anyone I want to see win.

At least this time the person who went to the island didn't get voted out with an idol in their pocket.

That was probably the first great tribal of the season, very well played

I thought it was well played too. But, I do wonder how it will affect her game long term. If Dean spills about the plan, or it otherwise comes to light, then Kellie may have a big target on her back. For having an idol and hiding it so well, and for being able to pull off such a sneaky move.

But I loved watching it!

Interesting the 14th place guy made the jury. 11 jury members or is weird stuff going on?

My theory is Rob and Sandra will have some kind of jury input,

The cast is making me sick today.

First the Harvey Danstein thing, and not only that, Janet being thrown under the bus for acting like a god damned human being by all the girls who told the camera he was too grabby.

I'm in a weird place after last night's episodes because one of my favorite players - Elizabeth - took actions that tarnish her as a person and that diminished the severity of a situation that clearly went beyond Survivor as a competition.

I also have issues with Jeff Probst's handling of things at Tribal Council because, like Elizabeth, he kind of diminished a situation that clearly went beyond Survivor as a competition, although he was admittedly somewhat between a rock and a hard place and therefore gets more benefit of the doubt than others caught up in this situation (he and the other producers should have temporarily rescinded the rule about jurors not getting to comment, though, given what was going on).

Janet and Elaine now stand alone as my Winner picks, BTW, so I'm glad Jeff convinced the former to stay in the game.

Edit: I'm also now frustrated with and angry at a Twitter user for openly advocating the harassment of Elizabeth and Missy over this situation.

I think Dan may have genuinely not realized he was crossing people’s personal boundaries.

But then when he was told he was, instead of saying “Sorry I didn’t realize I was making you uncomfortable, I’ll be more careful”. He said “How dare you suggest I could have been doing anything wrong?!”

He made it all about himself and his own reputation under attack instead of listening and learning anything.

Game wise I don’t know what Jamal was thinking. How could he think that publicly handing someone he is not allied with a handwritten piece of paper could convince anyone?

Nothing that is not in Survivor font could be construed as a real advantage. If there was anything he could have done with that, it was as a fake extra vote advantage, because those actually look like a blank sheet of paper.

Now that I think about it, that’s the right play. Say that it was an extra vote advantage or an idol nullifier but one he was required to give away.
