Survivor: Game Changers/The Amazing Race (Spring 2017)

Cerie probably hadn't read the rules and focussed on whether or not the advantage had been stolen or given.

Side note: Jeff said the advantage could be given to Cerie to show trust but that only Sarah could play it. That leaves open the question of whether or not Sarah could play that advantage while it is in Cerie's physical possession. We didn't get an answer to that one because Cerie voluntarily gave the advantage back to Sarah.

Didn't Sarah say something like, "I'll take that back now"? It was obvious that at that point she felt that Cerie had just tried to backstab her and steal the advantage. It surprised me that Sarah didn't vote for Cerie last night. I would have.

I'm concerned next TC there will be five protected people and somebody will lose by default.

Say, Brad wins immunity. Sarah plays legacy. Troy plays his idol. Tai then decides to protect both himself and Aubrey. Cirie now goes home purely by virtue of being the only one unprotected.

On the show it seemed Michaela wasn't popular because she was abrasive and negative, but you never know how it's edited.

Interesting how they re-edited tribal council to make it so Jeff was the one who told Cirie to reread the note.

Well, they couldn't very well show Jeff being the producer who forgot one of the rules of the game, could they?

Well, that was a brutal leg of the Race. Seriously, why make every task so physical, in such a humid climate that most of the racers wouldn't be used to?

I'm disappointed in which team was eliminated and which whiny team wasn't. If he'd done the task correctly the first time, he probably wouldn't have needed medical intervention.

As annoying as Brooke is, I'm starting to think Scott should be rewarded for having her as a partner.

Matt & Redmand are obvious most skilled team but that's why I'm a little rooting against them, they're the favorites and only all male team so they started out with physical advantage. Guess I'm rooting for Tara & Joey now.

So I wonder if Sarah's going to have to switch what kind of police work she does now, since she's outed herself as an undercover cop.

I'm not happy at how this season of Survivor turned out.

Just saw the ending. I thought Brad was going to win, so happy Sarah did. I think she was the best player this season. I wouldn't have been too sad if Brad won just it rubs me the wrong way when people win by winning challenges who would have been voted out otherwise.

I don't think any of the final 3 deserved to win, honestly. Yeah, they did the outwit, outplay, and outlast thing... but nastily, by bullying and backstabbing.

Thoughts on tonight's Amazing Race episode? I'm okay with who the final three teams are (would probably have been a different outcome if the one team hadn't had such bad luck with their taxi). That video game task was just brutal and so senseless.

I enjoy my own computer games... but not to the point where it's all I do.

I don't think Sarah played nastily. Signing up for Survivor and complaining when somebody lies to you is like signing up for boxing and complaining when somebody punches you. Lying in Survivor is no different than bluffing in Poker.

I didn't like the way Brad talked to Tai but he seemed genuinely sorry.

The 'Heroes, Healers, Hustlers' theme seems like a bit of a stretch, but at least they've got all new people.

The video game task wasn't so bad, since they put the blindfold on after 20 tries. No less fair than dancing or painting competitions. I didn't want Matt & Redmand to win but it probably would have been better if they made it to the finale and not lost because of a cab driver.

The video game task is brutal for someone who's never played before and doesn't see the point of it.

The blindfold didn't seem to make much difference.

So I guess I'm going to cheer on Tara & Joey. The other teams have been too annoying, although I do salute the guy who's afraid of heights. He had to do a lot of height-themed tasks.

True it's still tough for someone who never played in their life, but I don't see how it's worse than asking someone who never danced before to master complicated dance moves.

Most people have danced at some point, though. And dancing is both social and a way to get exercise. Granted, I've never had to go through the dances the contestants have, but I have learned square dancing and medieval dancing.

And for me it's the exact reverse. Most people under a certain age have at some point been exposed to video games.

Dancing challenges have taken some people hours and hours. Tara took what, 1 hour? 40 tries back to back, 1+ minute each. I don't see how you can say video games are more unfair just because you personally aren't good at them.

Exposed to video games doesn't equate to being good at them. A friend once (more, actually) kept pestering me to sign up to play WoW, and I said no - because I'd heard how some people get addicted to the point where they spend crazy amounts of money, and neglect their ordinary lives (jobs, kids, pets, eating... there's a reason it's aka "World of Warcrack").

It could have been the pointless violence of the game that was a problem as well. I play computer games, but the only time I ever did pointlessly violent things was when I was in a rotten mood, put in my original Sim City game, and bulldozed everything down to bare scorched earth.

But all this said, any task can be a nightmare if a person has never done anything like it before, has never been exposed to it, or doesn't see the point. And some of the dance judges are really hyper-critical. Once it gets to the point where the contestant is in medical trouble (like that one guy was in India a few seasons back), they should just give them the damn clue and let them take whatever penalty they get for non-completion of a task.

I have to wonder what would happen if someone actually died on one of those tasks - like one of the mountain climbing ones, for example, or had a heart attack in one of the hot, humid countries while trying to do a task requiring a lot of physical exertion.

If they didn't have the round where the player was blindfolded, I'd agree with you, but I think that even somebody picking up a video game controller for the first time could puzzle out how to beat a blindfolded man in ten or less tries, as Tara did. I haven't played a fighting game in years but I'm pretty sure I would have won exactly on try #21.

As for the issue of violence, to each his own, but I don't consider something violence if the only person hurt is made of pixels.

I want to point out something, the Survivor producers finally noticed that nobody likes the Survivor auction! Took them 17 years.

I doubt I could have. I have trouble remembering how to play Speedy Eggbert.

I actually liked it. It was fun watching some of them reacting as they either got something far better than they thought they would, or spent the whole $500 on something stupid. It's better than the disgusting food challenge.
