Survivor 48 (2025) / The Amazing Race 37 (2025)

At this point I think anyone but Han & Holden deserve to win. Both the gay couples are ridiculously likeable, the team with the express pass is objectively strong and likable, and the other team while they made social mistakes are clearly strong players.

At this point in Survivor all the people I don't like are gone. I like Joe & Eva but I want to see them make a game move to get to the end, not just have everyone kneel down to them. At this point I might be rooting for Kyle/Shauhin/Kamila.

So I'm happy to see Mary go in Survivor but still don't understand why Kyle and Shauhin won't make a move. They must know they can't beat Joe or Eva in the final. Joe's a great guy but this is the first season in decades that would actually save him. Still, now no matter who wins I like the winner.

Amazing Race I'm just a little pissed there wasn't a speed bump. Have a non elimination leg for production reasons fine, but then have no penalty whatsoever for the last place team? The eliminated team deserve to be in final four more than Han & Holden.

I'm not happy that Mary was voted off. Was she pissing people off? Yes, but it was out of frustration.

I thought the jury member (can't remember his name) standing for her was a nice gesture.

They were idiots not to vote Joe off. There may not be another chance.

The water jousting looked like it could have been fun, if time hadn't been so critical.

The team with the Express Pass were idiots for wasting so much time arguing whether or not to use it. It would have been hilarious if they'd wasted so much time arguing that they came in last and got eliminated.

Did that vineyard remind anyone of a certain Next Gen episode, when Picard and Geordi were standing in one?

I was glad to see Mary voted off just because she's not a good player. She is only there cause she lucked out on a shot in the dark. Every ally of hers got voted out. And she was trying to convince people to do the smart thing and couldn't sell it.

But yes, I've been rewatching prior seasons and I'm currently in season 14. This episode reminded me of season 10, when there were seven. Tom did not win immunity, they had a perfect chance to vote him out. Instead they voted out Stephenie. Tom won that season.

David standing up with the "Come at me bro" expression made me think he was a manchild. You know he's in his 40s living at home? He's a narcissist with main character syndrome, he sees all strategic moves against him as an attack.

But yeah, I don't get why nobody moves against Joe. Kyle and Shauhin seem afraid of losing jury votes. And you wonder if they're afraid of being called bigots for going after Eva. Joe might not lose another challenge and Eva still has that idol. But 6 might be their last chance.

You know he's in his 40s living at home?

So? There may be reasons for that, and he didn't think it necessary to share.

I lived 'at home' for most of my life and only gave it up after my dad had to move to a nursing home.

There's a difference between living with your parents to take care of them or due to personal or medical needs and living with your parents because you're perfectly capable of having an income of your own and choose not to so you can take advantage of their support to avoid getting a real career.

To quote a Seinfeld episode, "He's like Biff Loman".

So I guess Kyle's idea is that, he, Kamila and Mitch vote out whoever doesn't win the immunity challenge? I really don't get why Shauhin brought Joe, there wasn't any logic to that.

I thought telling Joe that Shauhin was flipping was a smart move but the idol lie didn't add anything and made the story more questionable.

Amazing Race-wise, at the start of the episode I was rooting against Han & Holden, but then when I saw how Jonathan was talking to Ana I was full on rooting against them. I hope they go home, it looked like they were a few rows ahead but we don't know the consequences of breaking a tile, it might be a huge penalty and the better team is safe

Any time when one half of a team is that disrespectful to the other half of the team, I automatically want them to lose. In fact, I want Phil to give them a lecture about respect. Not that this is the worst situation; that was a season or two back when I thought the woman should run, not walk, to a women's shelter instead of marrying the jerk, as I think he proposed to her and it was obvious that she felt pressured to say yes.

The 'knights on horseback' thing looked like fun. That's one of the contentious issues in the Society for Creative Anachronism, that heavy fighters (sword & shield) had Crown Tournaments and could become King/Queen, but light fighters (archers and fencers) were not eligible to become royalty.

Remember that TAR is on again tonight.

Survivor... I've decided that I want Eva to win. Mitch would make an acceptable runner-up, though I doubt he'd make it.

Joe? Can go any time. I don't care about sob stories. Kyle and Kamila just take up space in the universe and neither of them deserve to win.

Something I've noticed about some people: Why on earth would they wear jewelry at challenges, when it could get lost, damaged, or possibly be a hazard?

Oh, and I voted in that fan vote thing. The latest question is whether or not they should have idols in Season 50. I voted no. The first season didn't have idols, and it's the season I have the most fondness for (other than Rupert's first season). No idols, have less-elaborate rewards (make them grateful for a single slice of pizza), and get on with it. Maybe we'd get some entertaining stuff again, like Greg and his coconut phone.

Hope everyone remembered the TAR season finale Thursday. I'm very pleased with who won. It's nice when the team you're cheering from the get-go actually turn out to be the winners. :)

So I guess next week will be a 2-hour Survivor?

I was very happy with who won. I would have liked the Vegas performers and Alyssa and Josiah to be competing with them in the final three. But they were absolutely the best team.

I'm not sure who's going to win Survivor. I like everyone left. It feels like Joe might just win the last two immunity challenges and walk in, but if he doesn't, Kyle/Kamila/Mitch could stage a coup. And even though it seems like Joe's the jury favorite because he's the most in charge you never know if there'll be a spite vote or if they'll see it differently.

I was very happy with the winner of this season of Survivor. I wanted either him or Kamila. By far the strongest strategic team. I was just surprised that the jury didn't give Joe and Eva more credit for socially controlling the game so effectively.

I didn't particularly like any of the final 4, but of those 4, I would have liked to see Eva win.

So... anyone else participate in the online voting for the 50th season? I voted for no immunity idols. Take it right back to Season 1, when there were no idols, and a slice of pizza was a fancy reward.
