That first challenge was amusing.

All these guys with high IQ also spend most of their lives at computers behind desks, and when you do that you don't necessarily have functional intelligence.

Edit: Episode two shows more nerd stereotypes here. Brilliant introverts who are so used to being able to control everything in their personal environment and deal with people on your own terms, so when confronted with real pressure and uncertainty they panic and freeze up and when people aren't playing by their rules they lash out.

I feel sorry for Spencer and Cass for being stuck with these inept geniuses.

Spencer and Kass seem to be the only ones on the Brains Tribe that actually have any. Garrett may have been one of the dumbest players I've ever seen. I feel sorry for Spencer. Aligning with Garrett has left him in a really bad position. I hope he survives to the inevitable tribe mix-up.

I think Garret will be fine. They just used J'tia to get rid of Garret. She will be gone the next opportunity they have. I'm glad she is going to be around for a little bit though to live with the consequences of her rice trick.

Spencer (Who I assume you meant) will be fine if he makes it through to the 2-tribe stage.

If they lose a third immunity in a row, I think getting Tasha to vote against J'Tia is harder than getting Cass to vote against Spencer. Then again if Cass sees the writing on the wall that she's next if they lose again and without Spencer they certainly will lose again, "I'd rather go to rocks than not vote for J'Tia" might be an effective argument. Then again I have no idea why Cass went with J'Tia and Tasha and Tasha seems to think Survivor is about betrayal for betrayal's sake.

I didn't know this was on yet. I love Survivor, but I missed the last season. So far this season is awesome. Initially, I felt like my favorite players were Spencer and Kass, I'm glad my instincts were right. Kass definitely is the smartest one on the nerd tribe, I"m rooting for her. Garret, what a dumbass, he went home with an idol, so stupid. The other tribes; Sarah (the girl cop) seems to be smart and a good player, she stands out to me. Tony has the idol, so it looks like he's going to form an alliance with Sarah. The rest of the girls seem pretty useless as usual. The tall guy with the black hat on the pretty team seems like a natural leader and I think they will continue to do well. I'm really happy with this first episode and like I said, I'm hoping Kass will win, but we'll see. Survivor just gets better and better each season.

PS. the older horse tooth lady is annoying.

We've had some bumbling tribes before but 'brains' can compete with any of them in sheer ineptitude. Yikes! Anyway, plenty of players to dislike this season, though two of the worst are already gone in a flash. A couple of potentially likable players but we'll see.

I don't like Kass, she is the one that started with the whole stupid trend of being honest. Kind of funny that she turned on Garrett for taking that idea just a little further. J'Tia's puzzle meltdown was hilarious though... after that... and then destroying the entire rice supply... she doesn't get voted out? :guffaw:

The "brains" tribe is the most hilariously mislabeled tribe ever. They would have kept J'Tia over Spencer if they had lost again, and they almost did, except for him saving their asses on the puzzle (which they rightly kept J'Tia far away from). Why not shift your alliance to include him instead of the utterly useless, untrustworthy, and crazy J'Tia? If you're worried he'll go all the way, take him out later, but this early in the game you need smart, strong, and productive players to stay fed and warm at camp and win or place in challenges, and he's about it on that team.

I have no idea why Cass sided with Tasha and J'Tia over Garrett and Spencer. I think the conversation somehow gave her the impression that she would be blindsided later, which would be a legit reason to switch sides, except that Tasha has been going around complaining that people aren't being backstabbing enough.

Tasha: "This is Survivor! We should be going around making secret deals and betraying people! That is exactly what I intend to do in this game! Now, Cass, will you join our alliance? I promise you I won't betray you."

Maybe she has some idea in the back of her mind that she just needs to outlive the tribe and then she'd rather be surrounded by a bunch of loose cannons who will go out before her.

The brain tribe is so great to watch. Finally they god rid of J'Tia. They did the right thing. She was absolutely useless. I'm guessing that with the merge, those three will have to align with maybe Tony and Sarah? I'm thinking Cass may be on the outside of the three, but maybe Cass and a Spencer will form a stronger bond, it's hard to tell. All I know is that I'm really liking this season.

I've never seen someone perform so badly under pressure in challenges. At the first sign of falling behind, J'Tia would literally freak out, start shaking and panicking, and stop thinking altogether. I can't believe they kept her in so long! I'm thinking that, from their vantage points in the challenges, they probably saw it more as a group loss. However when they are watching the challenges on TV now it is probably more obvious to them that J'Tia pretty much lost every challenge for them.

Definitely a really good season so far.

Because they managed to not only find a good cast, they didn't add any returning players so the new people can actually come into their own instead of everything revolving around the returning players. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out when they mix up the tribes.

I'm happy for Spencer that he finally gets to play on an effective tribe. That must be really cathartic for him, I think I'm rooting for him 100% now.

I think Nick made a mistake voting out Cliff. He basically outed himself as a Russell-style player. He burned an incredible number of bridges just for the sake of making a power move.

Kudos to LJ though for nailing the social game.

Fantastic season so far. I'm so glad they've ditched the Redemption Island nonsense. When you're out, you're out. I think I'm rooting for Spencer. He seems pretty awesome (though I hope Jeffra and Morgan stick around, just for the eye candy). I was sure LJ was making a big mistake by not playing the idol. Maybe he's smarter than I gave him credit for.

Great episode! Good to see the brain tribe stuck together through the merge into two tribes. I'm also glad to see they didn't have to go to tribal counsel. I was worried that LJ would go home with an idol, I guess Tony assured them that he would vote for Cliff. It was a great blindside and it will be interesting to see how that alliance plays out.

I loved the look on Woo and the hairdresser's face when Cliff got voted out. Welcome to the bottom

Looks like hairdresser chick starts a fight when she gets back to camp too. Probably not the best strategy

In the preview it looked like Jeff had to come out to calm her down...it's always hilarious when the cockiest people out there turn into whiny babies as soon as they don't get their way.

I like this part of the season, because it's about the time that the folks who've really just been sunbathing on the beach so far realize they better get their shit together if they plan to stick around.

Additionally, Probst spoke with Entertainment Weekly after Wednesday night's episode of Survivor and teased that there would be another "Survivor first" happening in next week's episode.

"I can tease up...a first! Twenty eight seasons in and still another Survivor first. Good enough?" Probst teased.

This could potentially mean that Lindsey could be the first castaway to quit due to a conflict with another person or it could mean something entire unknown as of now.

http://www.enstarz.com/articles/351...-because-of-trish-in-episode-5-poll-video.htm

People have quit before because they're not getting along with others, or because they're hurt or depressed, but so far no one has actually had to be thrown off for getting physically violent with someone else. I wonder if that might be what happens?
