Survivor 23: South Pacific (Discussion)

Didn't care much about the final three. Honestly, I will remember this as the season of Cochran. He was the only player I cared about at all this season.

Finally got around to watching the finale. Usually I can't wait to watch the recording, but this season was so blah that I had little interest in how it ended. Turned out that the finale was just as dull as the rest of the season. And it didn't help that none of the finalist were the least bit likable. I'm just glad it's over- listening to all the talk about God and honor really turned me off.

I hope next season is better, because for me this was by far the most disappoinint season yet. With all the focus on Coach and Ozzy, we really didn't get to know much about the other players (outside of Brandon and Cochrane). Did Rick ever get more than a few minutes of airtime in an episode? He was there until the end but I didn't learn squat about him.

God, I hate final threes. Hasn't pretty much every final three just been one person sitting there looking uncomfortable while the voting is split between the other two people? It's dumb. Bring back the final two!

Agreed. And with three up there, it kind of thins down the questioning. Few of the jurors throw out questions or direct comments at all three, and even when they do, it's too easy for contestants to evade answering. Seemed like there was more content when there was just two finalists.

I was really enjoying this season up to a certain point. That point I think was when it was just Coach's tribe left - before that I thought it was pretty great.

Got to give respect to Ozzy for knocking off 8 people at RI, winning immunity challenges like he always does, and coming up just short in that final immunity challenge. Even though he's douchier than ever, he probably deserved to win out of the final 3 that were left.

I was glad to see Coach finally get called out on the honor and integrity bullshit he'd been peddling all season. I guess Sophie would have gotten my vote over him.

I'm glad they aren't making past castaways return next season, that's getting a bit played out.

Highlights of the season were definitely Cochran and Brandon. Lowlight was Rick.

No one is commenting on the finale? Seems fitting considering how it went down. Of the final three, none of them really deserved it.

Coach did nothing. Sorry to his fans, but he didn't. He road the coattails of his own name and past "glory" and copied Russell and Rob's previous style by surrounding himself with "yes men" and letting them do all the work.

Albert ... Was he even on the show? Huh. Didn't even notice.

Sophie ... And what, exactly did she do? Look into the camera during confessionals and act snarky? That's game play?

There were three coattail riders, none of whom actually did a thing.

When Ozzy was brought back in, it was at least temporarily interesting. Then it went back to that season in the Amazon with Stephanie ... One tribe completely dominating another, making it utterly boring by the end.
Agreed on all points.

Yeah Ozzy was cocky, but he was the best player out there.

Eh, I'm pleased enough with the winner. Of the three she'd be who I'd vote for as I'm not sure what the others really brought beyond their own egos.
