Surprised how opinionated Memory Alpha's Voyager season articles are.

Mainly the sixth season; there's some writing there that clearly demonstrates whoever wrote it wasn't too fond of that year, especially compared to the fourth and fifth. While I'm well-aware that's a fairly common consensus, I feel it's a little... out-of-bounds to be penning something on a Wiki in such a style. I kind of thought it would have been better-served written in a more neutral tone.

Am I misinterpreting Memory Alpha? I've spent numerous hours there and I thought everything was supposed to be written with a certain tone, but sometimes the site surprises me. Especially Voyager sections.

In my opinion the sixth was the worst season. Also my least favorite. So I can't blame the anger. But I do think that Memory Alpha should be kind of neutral

Memory Alpha is written by a particular brand of obsessive Trekkie, and obsessive Trekkies tend to be very rigid about what's right and wrong, or good and bad, in Trek. It's a great resource and extremely useful, but like Wikipedia, it's not perfect.

For example, their article on the 2009 Enterprise could use a rewrite, and one look at the talk page shows what a struggle it took for them to get even that far with it. There are contributers furious that they made the Enterprise bigger in the movie, and saying the size is wrong and shouldn't be listed. It's crazy.

Considering the kind of arguments that fans have on TBBS, I'm amazed they agree enough to get anything done.

Thanks for all the answers. I don't mind opinions, YWF, but I just feel, like mairbeariepie and the good King Daniel, that they seem out of place on something like a research site.

VOY, ENT, and reboot are just cans o' worms in Trek. :) I agree with KingDaniel - it's going to be hard as all-get-out to iron out all the "opinions" and cut to the facts, but it'll probably happen eventually.

My goodness, has anyone seen the articles for TATV or Endgame on there? Phew, talk about anger simmering beneath every word, lol.

I love Season One...but to my mind that was the only really wobbly season. All of the other seasons are strong, in different ways, I think.

I will say that seasons 6 and 7 are, after one, the most inconsistent. But--I think that, push to shove, I prefer 6 to 7.

Oh well, I love each season, anyway!

I dont know how anyone can put Endgame in the same category as TATV. TATV is a terrible finale that betrays everything about ENT. Apart from C/7, Endgame is a glorious tribute to the joys of VOY.

I just don't know how to interpret the phrase "glorious tribute to the joys of VOY."

Speaking of cans of worms, I probably shouldn't have brought up TATV or Endgame, lol.

I suppose you can interpret that phrase a couple of different ways depending on if you're a fan or not, yes? ;)

Memory Alpha is a wiki- if you read something that you think is insufficiently neutral (and it IS supposed to be objective), you should open that page and edit it to reflect that- that's the point!

I know, I know... but I haven't seen the show in too long to write it any better. D:

I can't imagine a way to make "Worst. Episode. Ever!" more neutral, myself. :)

(ducks)

Why aren't you all contributing? It's kind of fun.

I contribute in little ways. I was absent from the franchise for too long to make bigger changes, though. I'm starting to touch up on some DS9 articles.

Because I'm too busy "working" on Wikipedia. I need to make sure the articles there reflect a proper pro-Trekkie point of view.
