Surprise Inclusions

Some of the things we have ordered online lately have come with unordered extras. My son ordered a $10 fishing net and the box that arrived was huge. Inside was the net and also a hunting blind called a Doghouse which was probably much more expensive than the net. When my son called them to report the extra inclusion, they said for him to keep it because the return postage would be prohibitive. Another time, I ordered some kitchen gadgets to help my arthritic fingers open bottles, cans, etc. Also, inside the box was a 4-pack of AAA rechargeable batteries. Nothing in my order took batteries. This happens more often than you'd think.

Anyone else get extras that haven't been ordered?

It isn't unusual for some Etsy vendors to include some extra thing. I buy a lot of ACEO cards, and fairly often the artist will include an extra card that they think I might like. And one time when I ordered a penguin pin, the vendor included a clownfish pin (something I wouldn't have thought to order, but it's cute, so it's part of my pin collection now).

There have been times (long past, since it hasn't happened recently) when even a Walmart order would include a sample of something or other. But as luck would have it, if the sample turned out to be something I liked, it was discontinued by the time I wanted to buy it.

My son ordered a 2 piece fishing rod from Amazon and when the package arrived today, they had put 2 in the box. Maybe the person who filled the order misread that it was 2 pieces per rod, not 2 rods... This kind of thing happens to my son pretty often.

I once ordered aquarium decorations, some rocks to use as a background for action figures. I don't have any fish.

Included was one of those bone treats for dogs. I mean, even if I had fish that does not mean I have dogs as well? I ended up giving it to the neighbour dog.

I have the same issue with 1-800-PetMeds. I have 2 cats in my profile, even though one has been gone for almost 3 years. I only order cat related items, but they have included one of those generic milk-bones with every order.

I once ordered some traditional archery tackle and then ended up getting membership packets from the NRA in the mail every other week.
